Moon: Are you asking what Sarah Palin''s educational background is, or what her STANCE on education is?
She has a degree in broadcast journalism (that took 6 years and 5 colleges). Figured I''d point that out before someone else did.
3.gif
Sounds like what you were talking about in the Community College thread about not being ready for school and still being in party mode.....except on a much larger, pickier, scale. I heard that she switched colleges in Hawaii because one side of the island rained a lot and she wanted to be on the sunnier side.
I was asking about her educational background. Thanks. And picky is right...I can''t stop imagining two sides of a island, one super rainy, the other nice and sunny. That story has to be an exaggeration!
That is true of the Big Island (don''t know if that is where she went to school). Tip for destination weddings - get married on the Kona side of the island.
I''m going to remember that if I ever make it to Hawaii for a vacation! So, can you actually see a split in the middle between sunny and rainy? That''s what I was imagining. Incidentally, I saw that happen here once. It was surreal.

Doesnt it bother anyone that Hillary and Bill Clinton both said Obama isnt ready to lead and not experienced enough and only when they were forced by the party did they change their minds????

Does that not seem phony and two-faced??? I mean, its beyond absurd at this point. I understand the frustration with Bush but McCain doesnt even like him and I hope people dont vote for Obama just because they are unhappy with Bush. Vote on issues and if you truly, 100% believe barack is ready to execute them, cross party lines (only way he can pass anything into law) and be commander in chief.

I am not loyal to any party and so far Barack, while can talk a great game, has yet to prove he''s capable of the things that concern me.

Nope, doesn't bother me. But then I think the Clintons are liars (more so than the average politician) and self servers. I didn't like Bill before this election season and I was indifferent to Hillary. By the end of it, I disliked Bill more and loss all respect for Hillary. So nope, their opinion means nothing to me. Especially in light of Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign; all the things he was accused of...the idiots that are the Clintons tried to turn around and throw the same claims against Obama.

But what does this have to do with Palin?

By the way, I was born and raised in NM, and grew up surrounded by brown, and even though my family traveled a lot and I saw a lot of different climates and ecosystems--I was still blown away by western Canada and Alaska. Far and away the most beautiful land I''ve ever seen.

At least Palin went to school there. Talking about Obama and the Clinton''s opinion of him has nothing to do with her.

Threadjack that has absolutely nothing to do with Palin ALERT~

Freke, I must be so out of touch because I had no idea it snowed in NM. Out of curiosity, how much snow was considered enough to cancel school over? I ask because I have heard that Virginia freaks out after a few measly inches. Growing up in Maine, a lot of times it would take an all-out BLIZZARD for them to cancel. I remember driving through snowstorms like it was nothing.

Hey Lucky..no we don''t. Some areas of VA do I suppose (NOVA mainly), but where I lived we went to school. We almost ALWAYS went to school.

Indeed you can Netflix it.

You are making me regret missing a cruise to Alaska this summer. I was suppose to go with my Aunt but cancelled due to wedding stuff. My Aunt said it was absolutely gorgeous and I''m waiting on her pictures.

I just got back from a cruise in Alaska. So amazing, I highly recommend it. I''ve got to say though, once you see the beauty that is Alaska, I can''t imagine anyone of any party wanting to drill here. It is the last untouched wilderness.

Lol! Don't worry, it's a common misconception that it never snows here. Here in ABQ, because we're in the middle of the state we pretty rarely get snow (once to maybe three times a year that it's more than flurries), but an hour north in Santa Fe, they get snow pretty regularly, and an hour north of that and you're talking white landscape from November-March. But that's getting pretty close to Colorado.

As for Albuquerque, school usually gets canceled for an inch or so, but usually just delayed for a couple of hours, because once the sun comes out, the snow melts fast.-however two years ago (December 2006-January 2007) we had two major snowstorms in the city-the first ranged from 6 inches in the city to a foot (in the foothills of the mountains) and the second ranged from a foot in the city to 2 feet in the foothills.

The second one closed down Wal-Marts, Starbucks and McDonalds for about 3 days. We couldn't get our car out of the parking lot of our condo for 3 days, and the city had no way of coping with it. Schools were canceled for about the first week back from winter break because of the snow, then the leftover ice, but also because a lot of the pipes burst. It was an interesting winter, that's for sure. I think it was the first time ABQ had gotten a foot of snow since the '20s? Not sure on that, but it was certainly unexpected.

And I hear you on the feet of snow it takes to close school in certain areas of the country. I went to school 2 hours north of NYC, and since the school was opened in 1946, it has been closed only once in it's history because of the weather-and it was only because the water pipes froze and burst. This is in the land of 3 foot snowstorms.

BTW, it's a very common misconception (believe it or not) that because I come from New Mexico that I should speak Spanish and use a passport to get into the USA.

And, I'll attach a photo I have that was taken in December of 2006 during the first bad snowstorm-it was taken at my parent's house, looking towards the city, and they had a foot of snow because they live in the foothills of the Sandia mountains. We had to take them food because they couldn't get their cars out of the driveway because it's at the bottom of a hill (to the left in the picture).

It snows on the Big Island too - the top of Mauna Kea.

No, I''m not. I wish I were. "Wow! You look really white." "Was it hard to learn English?" "What''s it like to go through customs?" are just a slight tasting of some of the things I''ve heard and been asked.

It''s really really disturbing and pathetic. These aren''t like 5 year olds asking either. We''re talking teens and adults.

Freke, You do need a passport, or another document to enter Mexico. It explains it on this website.

Shows you how much I've been to Mexico. From what I've heard from people at NMSU (near the USA/Mexico border), they can go to Mexico without a passport into Juarez. Who knows how reliable drunken college students are though?

**ABC World News will be interviewing Palin tomorrow night (Thursday) and Friday** I don''t remember seeing any posts about it.

If anyone is interested here is a video of Sarah Palin on Glenn Beck back in June (she shows up around the 5 minute mark but the whole video is interesting). It basically addresses the energy crisis, polar bears, and untapped sources in Alaska.
Bonus Glenn Beck question about if McCain had contacted her about running for VP. Surpising answer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3jnbiHAMuY

Speaking of Glenn Beck, I was going to make a post about this...but I really feel like he is the one I relate to the most. When I watch his show I tend to catch myself nodding in agreement a lot. I'd be interested in hearing who everyone else's favorite talking-head is.
