Feedback on my pendant design before I pull the trigger...

Hi everyone!
I’ve been working with a jeweller on a big diamond pendant for my 30th later this year, so appropriately the centre is to be a 30pter and it’s 30mm in diameter. I am wanting something substantial looking to wear to work in particular (professional office in the Jewellery field) over high neck tops but sometimes on skin. I’m very tall and busty so anything too small or light looking would not have enough impact IMO over clothes. I’ve gone back since this image and asked for the centre to be bezel set (its actually claw set here but sort of disappears in the “meatiness” of the rest of the piece, I’ve drawn over it with pen to see how it would look bezeled), for a smaller enhancer if possible and for the diamond grades to be IJ SI (although they’ll likely supply closer to I or better). JK SI is bang on budget so I’m already overspending to get whiter stones, my personal sweet spot is HI colour range but I do have a BGD J in a solitaire pdt which I’m happy with.
I’m waiting on a new drawing and updated price with these changes.

Questions;
Are the smalls too little at 1pt?
They were originally 1.7ptrs (which looked like it would be very blingy) but this was too expensive and might be “too much” (if there is such a thing).

Any thoughts about IJ colour diamonds on white metals? I’m nervous as it’s not my preferred colour range but I don’t want to blow the budget all together.

Any design changes I should consider? It’s supposed to look vaguely space inspired. I’m wanting to eventually get a reasonably sizeable DBTY to wear it on but at the rate I’m going I’m going to be wearing it on a rhodium plated silver chain for quite a while:lol:

Birthday is not till October but I want to order it soon so I can stop obsessing about it!
Thanks for looking

What an interesting looking pendant (I mean that in a good way =)2 ). I wouldnt change the look of it personally. It looks quite nice to me.
I like the bale you are putting it on since you plan on getting a DBTY and will probably want to wear it with and without the pendant attached.
However, make sure the lock on the bale is tight enough. I have a friend's that tends to pop open. I think it might need to be tightened.

I'm thinking 1 pointers since your middle stone is a 30 pointer but it all depends on the look you are going for. I dont have a halo so let some
of the other PSers way in on what they think.

Did I miss the color of the center stone?

I have a larger pendant that I wear on a SS chain. I actually like the color of the SS chain better than the white gold chain that I have.:o

Are you libra or scorpio? With some tweaks, you could echo that in the stone alignment. I also wonder if it might look a bit more spacey if the rings varied a bit in diameter.

I like unique looking pieces so ill take interesting as a compliment! Centre I’m think will be an I SI. Yes, good point about the enhancer bail being very secure. I think I have seen enhancers made by them before and they are very tight so should be fine. I’ve also considered just a large bail.

I’m not really a “halo person” myself but can’t afford a 30mm diamond and am not really a frilly floral or filigree person so quadruple halo it is

Haha, I hadn’t thought of that, I’m a Libra!
I’ll think about varying the size of the rings, will mean one at least will be bigger = bigger diamonds = more money

You could have pave rings 1 and 3 and polished gold rings 2 and 4 (or the other way around). So instead of the 126 - 0.01 ct stones, you'd have fewer, and could adjust the size of the middle or one/more of the others. If you wanted to have a ring or two that was wider or a varying diameter, that/those could be polished metal instead of pave.

I like it! I think the bezels look a little top-heavy to me—maybe one of the larger ones move to the bottom left ?

I can see what you mean. I like that having it a little unbalanced looks more random but I think I’ve been looking at it so much I can’t “see” it anymore. Thank you

Here's a little Libra inspired placement. I'd make all the orange ones the same size and they scatter a few small ones (blue) to balance the visual weight of the orange ones. If you want to limit the larger stones, the top three dark orange are often depicted as the largest and the remaining ones smaller. So you could use the large ones for the dark orange and the smaller ones for the light orange.

Wow, that is awesome! Thank you!
It’s not as far off as I’d expected at all, looks doable.
The bezels are hiding the joins between the rings so the placement on your picture would just need a little juggle to make it workable.
I really like the idea and the extra meaning :)) thank you.

Glad you like it. Just a tiny shift would align most of them. Look forward to seeing how this works out. Not sure if your like the idea of it, but what about using colored gemstones for the stars? You could use pastel shades that are barely there and would resonate with your libra start sign. It might also reduce the cost a bit if she use sapphires.

Gorgeous design! I love the random placement of the larger stones, as well as a libra outline. It will be stunning either way. Looking forward to see the result

I love it, especially the randomness of it :D

I have considered using coloured stones, such as a sapphire centre. I love coloured stones but I’m not sure how adding colour would change the look of the pendant and I’m concerned that colour might restrict the clothing I can wear it with. Im hoping that it will “go with” a lot of my work wear so it’s not just an occasional wear piece.
I might do some sketches myself to work out the libra stone placement ad play with colour before I continue to torture my jeweller with my changes!

My birthday is not till October but I feel a little pressure to pull the trigger soon because I’m outside of the US and metal and gem prices are based on USD and I’m think our exchange rate will be going the wrong way soon. Also apparently my husband think this pendant is reciving more or my attention than he is at the moment so better wrap it up soon:lol:

It’s still somthing to consider:))

Hi! You may want to look at the Temple St. Clair Tolomeo pendant for additional inspiration (unless you already did). I like the scroll work at the top that she did with the pendant. I also like the movement. The link below is the pendant but she does an entire collection in this theme. Search on Tolomeo on her website.

I had seen this pendant when searching for inspiration, it is divine! I’m a fidgeter so I think it would enjoy wearing somthing like that. I had considered somthing similar with diamonds rather than coloured stones, I can’t now remember why I decided against it, I think I asked my jewellery obsessed friends and they preferred my current design. My husband really likes the idea of it spinning but I think we’d have to loose the larger “constellation “ stones to make that work and I do love the contrast of the “order” of the rings and the randomness of the bezeled diamonds.
Stunning piece though!

Thanks for the feedback everyone-, I’m working on somthing on top of the pendant near the bail as per Miki Motos suggestion to add some interest, I’m not in love with how the bail joins the pendant currently.
Hopefully I can crack it soon and get this thing underway!

Hi! If you like the movement, maybe you can make just a few spin. I love love love this pendant, it is so unique. I don't wear yellow gold and even asked Temple St. Clair if she would make one in platinum or even white gold, but she would not. As of now, she says it's only available in yellow gold, but the minute she does it in white metal, I'm going to get one.

I love this pendant, and it's even prettier in real life. The movement is amazing. As FYI, this Tolomeo design has been recognized as a key design, and one of her Tolomeo rings is now on permanent exhibition at the Louvre. I really love this design and most of all, the movement.

If you like it too, maybe you can just do a couple spinning circles. =)2

I really love the way this pendant looks! I agree with the Libra stone listening...i like it's very nice and super sweet!

The one thing i would say it's that I think keep the center stone bezel consistent with the rest of the stones unless you were going to go with @ringo865's suggestion off having two pace and two plain bands. i think the enhancer will detract away from the overall look of the piece as it will be a little out of place. It would be a seemingly single row with too much medal.

Bail ideas; I’ve sketched out a lot of options, many I like very much but are just not my style. I tend to go for elegant, simple, clean lines, not so much floral or overly ornate details.
Think I’m down to these two options, one is more simple, the other is a bit different because it’s actually the Libra symbol (I’ve decided not to move the “stars” because I struggled to get as balanced a look doing the Libra constellation without adding many more diamonds).
Thoughts? (Excuse my awesome twink and pen modifications:bigsmile:)
Could be without diamonds as another option323EE1C5-D347-4A3D-B56A-AE6B95B742FB.jpegF05AB5EB-A2FD-428D-8BB8-06B7BC5D8782.jpeg

I like the simple one. It's simple and clean. I don't like the horoscope idea at all and by adding the libra, you change the theme to make it about the zodiac, horoscope, Romans mythology, etc. Now it can look like a Roman Zodiac coin.

Just my cents but of course you might love horoscope stuff.

I tend to prefer hidden bail on pendants, like this

I don’t like a hidden bail on such a large piece, but the bail on the jade picture is interesting
