Hi All -
Long time viewer first time poster. Looking to see if the Fancy Yellow I am looking to purchased is priced fairly and reasonably. I have been shopping around for several months for FLY and FY and this is the stone I like the most. But just wanted a few opinions on the cost before I went for it. Thanks in advance! It all depends. Even with a picture (video is better though), it can be difficult to evaluate if it is priced well.

Here's the best photo I currently have. It is the oval in this photo.

I agree with Chrono.

There is much that affects the price of colored diamonds that is not captured on any spec on a GIA report.
Live is the only way to evaluate the attractiveness of the color, which can vary a great deal within one GIA color grade.
The attractiveness of the color will affect the price.
One GIA fancy yellow may have just a touch of brown in it but not enough to get a grade of Fancy Brownish Yellow.
Another may have a touch of green in it but not enough to get a grade of Fancy Greenish Yellow, but it will be priced much higher than the "pure" yellow with a hint of brown.

IOW two FCDs with identical GIA reports can vary widely in price even from the same vendor.
Next the supply of colored diamonds is much lower than white D-Z diamonds so comparisons are very difficult to find.
Sorry.

My personal opinion is there really is no way to tell with Colored diamonds if you are getting best value or not. Especially as the value of the diamond is based off of color and what you might like others might not. While others are here will look at the numbers to idenitified if it has the best cut etc and that will assist greatly with pricing, when it ultimately comes to color you either like it or you don't. So if the numbers check out and it is a decent cut oval - the question to you is- Do you like it for 14k?

Thank you all for your input. I love the stone and the color - it leans more to the greenish side rather than the brown side. It's an amazing stone and if anyone does have any other input about the value I wold love to hear it. (Knowing that the value of FYD is very subjective)

Thanks again

Even though you can't really judge by pics very much, I think it looks beautiful.
It does look a tad green, which I prefer in a Yellow and I see no bow tie, though it is not a head-on pic.
The color looks evenly distributed, but with lighting that results in that sparkly look it's hard to judge evenness of color.

In my opinion price looks good and since it is graded for clarity as Internally Flawless make me more comfortable saying so.

Thank you for the reply Kenny & DiamondColors -

There is no visible bow tie at all (which I assume is a positive in FY ovals just as it is in whites?)
I think I am going to pull the trigger and make a ring...

Hope she likes it!

I agree it looks a tad green, but it looks very appealing to me. I'd take it in a heartbeat!

I like the color as well! Should be fab
