Faint Blue labs

Of the bluance (and even one green nuance) diamonds that I've run across, I always wondered if they'd look really, really good in one of those newfangled black gold rings. Maybe a little bit of pronounced but intentional color hue pop? Dunno.

I have a ring from James Allen that's a round brilliant G with blue nuance. Can't see it at all, it just looks like... Generically diamond-colored (or diamond-colorless), ha. Not even from the side view. As far as color sensitivity in lab diamonds, I've returned a 1.80 K because of its greenish-brown yucky color, kept two 0.6ct J ovals with pink tone which I can readily see, and somewhat grudgingly kept an H oval which has a yellow+brown tint that I think I can get over. All of those were loose, though. So - if you like the tint, go with a lower color than G! At G, it either disappears when set, or maybe I wouldn't have even been able to see it loose.

Does anyone have a faint blue lab diamond in a ring? For some reason, I am wildly attracted to them every time I see a video of a faint blue stone. I'd like to see one in a setting though to see if I still love it.

I have one coming next week! I’ll post pics!

Awesome! Can't wait to see it!

Here it is. Unfortunately, it came in the wrong setting so it’s going back. I see zero blue nuance. Zero. It’s not even steely, just clear with no hint of brown or green. 57E797FC-E90F-48CB-963D-6919B1A0A172.jpegF7FCB679-481B-4F1B-A4BD-5E8FC0F1B92A.jpeg23471055-0CDC-4D75-8D5F-B53218CDC835.jpegBF53F2C3-3C9D-4076-A0BE-CD71FB94E51A.jpegA1A520B7-9DD9-40D3-AF87-5F0DDE4E1424.jpeg042582F6-2763-40E7-9A8E-31DEEAB544FD.jpeg

Oh, that's so disappointing! How did they get the setting wrong? It is a beautiful diamond and really white!

It was supposed to be a classic 2mm domed solitaire setting. This has the stone set on top of the band with a 1.8mm width. Not even close.

I understand why you aren't happy. I don't like anything less than 2mm. Who did you purchase from if you don't mind me asking?

I gave Art of Jewels another try because the price of the stone was cheaper by $600 through them. This is what it was supposed to look like. I’m debating letting them make another setting vs. just returning it at this point. The setting is also does not have a gold stamp.DBF09208-CCAB-46BD-8E6C-177E27482635.png1231ACB1-3321-4409-8F95-4029CA8509EF.png

I like your chosen setting a lot better. I feel like most companies just don't care anymore about customer service. I've had my share of disappointments with Ritani, but I still continue ordering from them. It hasn't been huge things that happen, but just too many little things, and those start to add up.

Would another vendor price-match so you can get that price elsewhere?

It’s just not worth the hassle. They honestly have the best prices and their communication process during the order lets you know where the ring is every step of the design and build process. It’s really hard to find a vendor who sells faint blue nuance stones that are actually well cut, since the nuance is often a QC fail.

I totally understand. It’s so disappointing to wait two weeks and then have the ring fall short of expectations. I absolutely love the blue nuance and it’s hard to find good ones well-priced, so I will continue to order from them.

They probably sent you somebody else's ring and the person with your ring is just as disappointed.

I will have it checked before I send it back.

In my search for the perfect oval for my wife for her 10y... I thought I knew it all when I was searching. I ended up buying from Rarecarat a 4.57 I VS1 HPHT w faint blue on the cert... I received it not knowing what faint blue meant.

It looked weird.

I did not like it at all and when I pointed it out to my wife, she did not like it. Looks too cool... does not match typical skin tone.

I sent it back because it just looked wrong and I don't like that they used boron to speed up the HPHT process.

I ended up with a 4.14 D VS2 GIA and it looks so much like her original 1.5 J Whiteflash ACA... it just looks right.

So now I know to look for the right hue... yellow hue is natural and a sign that there were no shortcuts on the HPHT.

I also tried to avoid CVD because even with post treatment, it still has a brownish hue to me.

I can post pictures if you want.

I definitely (and wife) don’t like the blue tint or faint blue nuance… looks unnatural to my eyes.

LGD Hpht 4.57 I VS1 compared to an EGD 1.51 J SI1 ACA. The boron messes it up.

Also, same hpht 4.57 I compared to hpht 2.0 H oval.

You can clearly see the blue tint. I returned it.

Compare the blue tinted diamond to a 4.14 hpht D of the right natural tint… use the 1.51 EGD as reference. Also shown is the same 2.0 hpht H.

I did not have both ovals at once since the blue had to be returned in exchange. There’s something to be said about that natural creamy tint… much more natural to my eyes.

I had a radiant with faint blue nuance that I decided to return. Honestly the only time I felt that it looked blue was in bright sunlight. Which I thought was really pretty. The rest of the time it looked more gray and dull somehow. So I'm looking for a colorless diamond now. I really like blue aswell but I think I will go for a light fancy blue if I was to find a nice looking one in the future.IMG_8199.jpg

I am curious as to what part different color settings play into highlighting or diming the blue nuance. I could see rose and yellow gold highlighting the effect or negating it.

I think I’d like blue nuance, but I have not seen one in person. It is a dead giveaway for a lab stone, though.

Another one I saw today.

3.08E HPHT VS1
Vs
3.08F HPHT VS1

You can see one of them is blue.

Very odd to see it at a high color.
