Yes I think prices are higher in the US, Europe, and Australia, and the knowledge of jadeite is not as deep as that for of say, diamonds. That makes it possible for vendors to sell mediocre or low quality pieces for prices that are not low;

Ooo I wish there were more jadeite shops in Sydney. I'd go running to one to ask them to show me a sun green piece!

Sungreen is a more yellowish, lighter green than imperial green.
It looks fresh, like new leaves. The bird nest ring from Kathy has three little sun green eggs. Sun green is considered the second most desirable hue in jadeite, after imperial green. Like you, I have avoided buying the bird ring because I’m so afraid I would accidentally behead the bird or knock an egg off.

I had so much fun with these earring! I kept telling myself they were really worth the price because I could make two rings and a pair of earrings out of them. I could even use one as a pendant and have the other made into a ring.
Expensive material like imperial green is usually made into ovals, which is, by convention, the most desirable shape.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm gosh picking one feels like a multiple choice question

Hmmm I think the 21.5k one might be my favourite as the colour appears deeper (do you know what type of green this is?) and I think it might be slightly more translucent?
The 15k one appears slightly brighter though (to my untrained eyes haha), but less translucent? Actually, looking again at the 2nd last picture you posted, I really can't tell which one looks the most translucent...
Is the 33k one the deepest shade of green? I can't really tell how translucent it is, or out why it costs over 10k more than the others.
The 6k one is a bit too small, but is it just me or is it super glowy?

Yes, they are all from On Cheong.
The 21.5k one is my favourite, too. It has good water, a deep enough colour without being too dark, better proportions, and good thickness. The 6K one is smaller . It looks bright because the metal is shining through. The 15K one is not as bright as the 21.5K piece and is less translucent, as you said. Finally, the 33K ring is pretty long and the stone is bigger. It has good colour but I wish it were a bit wider. So the winner is… 21.5K! All the jadeite pieces come with a lab report.

It looks lovely on you. I like the proportions. Looks like a good size too.
I do love the deep forest green. It has an air of mystery. In the trade it is called “艳绿’”or intense green.
The inclusions are there, but I don’t think they are distracting. it is likely most people won’t notice them.
Glad that you now have a new fav stone! I could never get tired of jadeite because there are so many hues and forms.
Just for fun - here is a huge honey jadeite pendant.
One of my friends, who is based in London, saw it online and liked it, so I went to help her have a look for her. It is as big as a biscuit! It also reminds me of marmalade.

An innocent stroll after lunch led me to buy something that will appear on the Minerva thread when I can face up to it.
Then I saw this ring which seemed to from a fantasy tale. I loved it so much that I bought it. Then I saw a pendant that matches it and so on…. @MMtwo would understand

Was the texture icy? I'm hoping for glassy, but I'm guessing it's probably icy?
Would you say that this marquise has a good amount of glowiness in real life? I'm hoping for something as glowy as imperial jadeite, but a forest green, but I'm not sure if that's possible haha

Yesterday when I went back to the shop, they offered me the matching earrings at half price. But the earrings are enormous, about 8 cm long and 3 cm wide.

Magical indeed! They look like green water blobs and the light floats over them when I tilt them. They could rival the Lorraine Schwartz earrings that Angeline Jolie wore.

Maybe, a tiny part of me is actually considering those earrings because they are a bit like the holy grail. Yes, the price is scary and at that level, one could buy many other beautiful things.

Re: the marquise I don’t know the measurements — I would say the stone is 12-13 mm? — but can get them for you. Yes, it’s very nicely icy with a fine texture. The green is saturated but not too dark and not quite imperial - it is a lush and gorgeous “full green”. The person who showed me the rings is Yvonne. She can take the pics and measurements and WhatsApp them to me, or you can contact them directly. Veronica is the store manager and Kevin (assistant store manager) is the one who is most comfortable communicating in English. The main store, which is where I went, is closed on Sundays.

Haha noooooooooo I wish! Pearls are just some nice and big freshies. The mix of colours goes well with some of my dresses.

Yes, there is sun green which isn’t so much glowy as it is bright and arresting. Will post more later but for now, look, marquise rings! The prices are in Singapore dollars.

Giiiirlllll, OMG, just stop everything. These earrings are absolutely epic. Those are museum earrings, movie star earrings...I don't know, but as fine as anything I ever saw. If you buy them, they need their own thread so we can oogle them more.

Sooooo, I tried reaching out to On Cheong through WeChat and asked about the marquise ring you showed me, but the sales associate I talked to really did not seem to like marquise or pear shapes He said they were a lot more risky as they ends are prone to chipping I thought due to jade's toughness, chipping wouldn't be as much of a problem as it is with pointier diamonds, but I guess it can still happen. The sales associate also really recommended that I visit in person before choosing or purchasing anything, which is probably a good idea haha

I was shown a couple of smaller oval shapes that were really glowy and pretty, but I don't know if I like them as much as marquise and pears. I guess I'll have to have a think about whether to go for a marquise shape still, after talking to On Cheong. Ahhh decisions decisions...

@MMtwo So many choices in Jewel Land. Did you know one of our airport terminals is actually called Jewel?
The teacup is so cute! I also like those very dramatic butterfly earrings with the dripping dangles.
Oh my…’to make things worse, another Jeweller texted me today with photos of an 8 carat intense cornflower blue Sapphire. The fun never ends.

it is the top designation. In that case, I have a few unicorns.
They don’t use the term “Imperial green”, which is more of a trade name, but intense green is not imperial although all imperial is intense green.

Thank you, yes! Someone pointed the little fox out earlier today. This is a little bit better look at his face. He's cute and I am thrilled with him. Now to hunt down earrings. While he is not very translucent, he is extremely vibrant. So far I haven't had much luck, but I will keep up the search.
