I hope I’m posting this in the right place. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been on this web site. :) I have an engagement ring and wedding band set that I haven’t been able to wear since my last pregnancy. :( I’ve finally given up the dream of “fitting” back into my rings and am wondering what my options are (I’d like to keep my original diamond for its sentimental value and not upgrade it). The ring and wedding band are both micro-pave eternity styles (the ring is in my profile picture and old posts), so I don’t think sizing up is an option. Is this correct? What are my options? Any guidance on reputable online jewelers (I live in a small town), etc. for resetting a stone? Can I sell the settings? Where do I start? Thank you!

You can try selling on loupetroop/diamond bistro and listing it on our pre-loved forum. Can you look into having it reshanked? Cant
really tell enough about your picture to see whether it might be an option (might not be cost effective either).

I'd only reshank with a plain shank because you never know if you'll need to resize again. But it's probably easier to start over. Used settings won't get a lot of money back on resale, but you can certainly try to sell on Loupe Troop.

I briefly looked back at your posts.. is your ering a full eternity? Is it from James Allen as well or just your diamond?

I have a pave shank ering from JA (3/4 not full) and sent it back to them to be resized with no issues.

I know it’s too late for you but if anyone else is reading, get your eternity too big before pregnancy. Your ering will keep it on. I went for 7.25 to 8 after 4 kids.

Now why couldn’t you tell me this ahead of time! I purchased two eternity style rings DURING pregnancy and fit the size alrhough a little tight but still fit. And for some infair reason they both don’t fit after pregnancy?!!! WTH?! That’s even after loosing half the weight. So explain that to me! Makes absolutely no sense:angryfire:

Oh boy. Please excuse the typos. Managing my almost four month old at the same time. Lol

Solidarity. Mine don’t fit anymore either and I lost all of the weight! What gives?!

I agree with DS- I wouldn’t reshank with pave.

How do you want to reset it adak?

Please explain.. reshanking is when a worn out thin band is replaced with new metal, yes?

In this context it seems like resizing a ring with pave? I guess if you are sizing up this would be like reshanking (adding new metal)... what if you size down (like I did)? Just asking because now I'm nervous... sorry, not trying to hijack thread, OP!

I am currently 6 weeks and had already started an eternity ring prior to pregnancy and was told the ring could be resized if needed afterwards...I am getting it half a size larger than my ring size but I’m really hoping my knuckles don’t get bigger. If worse come down to it then I will just see about getting a new ring made reusing is the same diamonds.

Ring size change mostly due to the hormone relaxin. Your pregnant body releases it to soften pelvic ligaments. But, its nonspecific. It softens all ligaments to some effect. Once released, your spring back post nursing is genetic. Another long lasting gift from pregnancy. Lol

OP
My wife has a full eternity wedding band, the jeweler was able to resize by cutting it, adding a diamond, and totally rounding it out. So I would say it can be done.

Edit: Her ER was also resized, the one in my avatar.

It sounds like your rings are too small, and I wouldn't recommend resizing for pave.

But, if they are too big, I wanted to mention this. I have a channel set princess cut eternity in white gold (just a fun rhr). It was too big for me. Instead of trying sizing beads, my jeweler was able to put a small lip all the way around the inside of the ring to make it a smidge smaller. Worked like a charm.
