I voted for semi-eternity. I have one now (3/4 eternity) and I''m really glad I didn''t get a full one, because I noticed the other day that when I am in SUPER hot weather, its a bit more snug than I''d like. Its almost never really hot where I live now, but I''ll be moving to a much hotter climate pretty soon, and I''m probably going to seriously consider whether I might want to size my band up just 1/4 size so it doesn''t feel too snug in the heat.

I''m having a similar dilemma, d_d, but my biggest fear is arthritis. Everyone in my family has it, so I know it''s coming someday...I think that 3/4 or a sizing bar is the most sensible option, although I love the look of a full eternity.

Congratulations on the birth of your first child!

Full eternity here too!

Full eternity!

Can you get one or two sizing circles in case you need to resize later? Did you see what I did with my Bev K baby ring? It looks like it''s full eternity but isn''t really.

snlee, can you post a link or a photo? I''m really interested to see what it looks like, it sounds like a great solution!

Wellll..... I actually prefer half- or 3/4-eternity myself (if my band had come in those I would have gotten that instead), but you sound like YOU are 99% sold on the eternity already. So sense in trying to talk you out of it

I voted semi, I don''t like the feel of stones on the underside of my finger, plus I think it''s a waste of diamonds.

I''ve noticed it seems to be trendy these days to wear rings very loose, I guess this is what causes the spinning, but I like my rings to fit.

I have a RHR that has stones all the way round except for a small sizing bar, and whenever I wear it it scratches the leather on my sports steering wheel.

I was going to remind her of your lovely BK! I think your ring is the PERFECT solution.

I''m late to this thread but I''ll start by saying congrats on the arrival of your little blessing and I''m another vote for full eternity.

My e-ring is and I researched the pros and cons and I still went with it b/c I like the concept of the full eternity it spoke to me. I am planning on getting 2 full eternity bands as my w-bands and I''m totally looking forward to it.
I say go eternity!

i LOVE my eternity band. it has so much meaning. and i love that when you wave, it sparkles! for both those reasons, having diamonds all the way around was very important to me. If you don''t really care about having a full circle of diamonds, it''s better to have to 1/2 or 3/4 so you can size it easily.
I''d rather have that look and cross the size/damage bridge when I get there. I am very gentle with it though- off immediately when i''m home and never bang it onto tables or anything.

Why not have the best of both worlds with this option: full eternity but with a decent length of "spacing bar" that will allow for resizing in the future?

I have a 3/4 eternity and I wish I''d gotten the full. If your rings have a tendency to spin you''ll be annoyed to look down at your finger and see the plain bar. If your rings stay put it wouldn''t be a problem.

I would never get an eternity......... Not that I don''t love the look but what if your finger size changes?! Heck even my shoe size changed a little after my first baby

Just get a small sizing bar and call it good.

Snlee can you tell us how exactly this helps with sizing? I just don''t get why sizing this would be any different than sizing a full eternity...it seems with both that you would cut between the circles and expand or restrict from there. I think I am missing something.

Same here, neatfreak! It sounded like a great idea, but when I saw it I couldn''t figure it out either.

I don''t know the specifics. Not sure how sizing bars work in general but the circle is basically the same thing as a sizing bar just different shape. Julian at Pearlmans assured me that a sizing circle would work. Since my finger is small, I decided to go with just one circle instead of two. Two circles would have been around the same as having a 5mm sizing bar.

snlee, I am so jealous! I wish I had thought of the sizing circle. Also brilliant that they milgrained it.

Full Eternity All the way!!! I had the same pros and cons as you. However I''ve read a couple of times on here that some jewelers won''t even size bands with a small sizing bar because it may alter the secureness of the other diamonds still in the band. Now I''m sure it depends on what type of diamond band you are getting (I would assume) but when I read that I was like what the heck! Might as well go full-eternity! My finger has pretty much been the same size for as long as I can remember. If it gets a little snug then that just means I''m getting too fat and need to watch what I''m eating! :) If it gets too big I''ll just add speedbumps to it or something. :) I just got my full eternity and don''t regret it one bit! As Nike would say "Just Do It"

Oh, here's a pic of mine :) If a stone should fall out one day I'll just replace it. It doesn't cost very much and is worth the risk IMO.

i vote full eternity!!! no contest!
as for sizing, i would recommend getting your standard, pre-pregnancy size. i have carried 2 children and gained roughly 13-16 kg during each pregnancy and my rings were never an issue.

Wow thanks everyone! Talk about a split decision on the voting... and who are the jokers who voted for the last three options

Today I went to Tiffany''s and might I say
30.gif
I don''t like the prices there, but the rings are lovely. And they have the best lighting I have seen
2.gif
I tried on the Tiffany jazz which is, I believe, 2pt diamonds. It was gorgeous! Loved it. But I also tried on a couple of channel set bands and loved them too -- one with 1 pters and the other with 2 pointers. Soooo now I am not sure whether to go chanel or bezel! I think I will start another poll
9.gif

QUESTION Does the price of the band matter for your sizing decisions? I think if the band was very expensive I would be more hesitant about full eternity, but for a less expensive band I would feel more comfortable with full... I suppose I would accept the risk of not being able to wear it one day more readily.

Dreamer, I think price does make a difference to me, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Even more so, though, is the sentimentality of the piece -- I''d be devastated if I couldn''t wear my wedding band anymore, but not that upset about an impulse purchase.

I must have your taste! I love both style... bezel or channel..hmmmm, ... but I like the bezel as it is unique,, side view I love how the ridges look,
Agreed with octavia- if impulse buy not that sad if I can''t wear or resize the ring, but if it was not that expensive to start off with, then maybe I wouldn''t mind just going full eternity... I know not much help.

We had a half around eternity made for my ering. However, I tried it next to my ering for a few days and it drove me nuts because the diamonds never lined up due to spinning. Now I have a 2.25 ctw Jeff Cooper eternity band being made and it will hopefully arrive before I get married Friday

It is supposed to arrive Thursday via overnight mail from New York lol!

D&T we do have the same taste

Like you, I have a ~1.2ct K ACA coming my way in a week or so, and I am thinking about the bezel band! LOL! Question for you: Do you think that the bezel nad you have with the 1 pointers is large enough to balance your solitaire, or does it get "lost"? Maybe I will ask this in your SMTR thread!

I think its a bit too small and does get a little lost next to my solitaire, then again, I think the keystone band i have is slightly wider than I would have liked it (but really its my temporary setting) until I figured out what I want to do- however I do love the bezel band, I''ve asked for a 3 pointer quote as well, didn''t go for it though since I''m still contemplating a 3 stone half bezel look like Sundial''s ring. I''m excited to see your K!... yeah - oh getting back to your question,, I think about 2 -3 pointer would be perfect with your K though. I''ll be checking your progress

I voted for full eternity. The spinning of semi-eternity drives me nuts.
