i just wanted to thank jonathan at goodoldgold.com for all his help in making my online diamond purchase a great experience. he is not only as great as everyone on this forum says he is, he truly cares about his customers. it''s refreshing having someone focus on a high level of customer care as well as making sure his customer is satisfied, rather than focusing on making the sale. i am truly grateful for his help.
my online adventure didn''t start off the best. i had my eye on this diamond on their website which was totally ''the one'', but due to my own hesitation, it was sold before i could do anything. i was heartbroken... heck, i''ve never purchased anything of that amount online, let alone a diamond... and i''m a guy... so i guess the combination is some sort of justification to pause eh? but the pricescope community told me to keep my head up and that it wasn''t meant to be (diamonds are sort of like relationships eh?).
anyways, jonathan found out about my "heartbreak." he totally took the time to work with me and provided me an awesome alternative. it totally felt like i was his only customer with the attention he gave me. realistically though, i know goodoldgold has been hopping. i really appreciated the time he took out for me. he answered the endless amount of questions i had... he was also my eyes for the diamond...
i ended up getting a 1.02 ct, h&a round, vs2, h color that''s just beautiful. face up white, hca of 0.9, so it shimmers pretty nicely. i''m very happy with the purchase and in actuality, i''m thinking about keeping it for myself and not proposing... just kidding.
as for the setting, i had my heart set on a scott kay setting i''d seen (i know, i know, too expensive... but it just seemed right). unfortunately, goodoldgold didn''t carry it. when i told jonathan that i was planning on getting that setting, he was totally understanding of this decision and didn''t pressure me with anything. i truly appreciated that. jonathan is the total gentleman.
i ended up going to a b&m here in chicago - james & sons on clybourn (not on jeweler''s row). jane was the person who helped me out there and she was awesome too. very personable and had great taste; and definitely did not pressure me. she ordered from scott kay the setting i had my eye on and another one that looked similar. she had those in a couple days later and i was able to look at them in person. i ended up making the purchase and had my diamond set there that same day. if you''re ever at james & sons on clybourn, ask for jane, she''s great and will totally take care of you.
so now i have the complete ring burning a hole in my pocket... lucky for me, all i have left is to propose... and that''s the easy part right?
but seriously, thank you jonathan for all your help. you are the model of professionalism and i truly enjoyed this experience.
also, thank you pricescopers for your insight, advice, and help in making this experience a memorable one. you guys rock!
