Thank you Litebrite for your thoughts as well.

DD- hey thanks for chiming in... and remembering my colored stone ring that I had created intially. I have been wearing that ring quite frequently recently to see how I felt about it but you are right I think the head started to bug me on the corners as it is not "rounded" per se and sidestones were a little too large - Dang it! Joe was right afterall at WF
2.gif
the sidestones started to compete with the center. Anyhoot... I'm going to take a break from this project for a few weeks and re- think... visit a few more jewelry store (hopefully it won't throw me into another tanget
23.gif
) BTW -what about you? are you still thinking of haloing your e ring? I saw some beautiful halos and thought about you. it definitely makes a statement and really makes the diamond look huge.

thanks again everyone!

LOVE the Sholdt D&T! Either one will be gorgeous though.

Hey Gemgirl

psst, D&T- I''m still thinking Sholdt
30.gif

The one thing I forgot to add in my other post is the craftsmanship. I have to admit it''s excellent. I''ve knocked the ring around a few times now (ok many times), and no dings. Had the stone checked after the last one because I thought I may have chipped it but the stone is still fine, and I was told that it''s VERY secure in the setting.

Thanks LFVDoll

awww... I'm starting to lean towards the sholdt... I just received my honey band,,, and I'm convinced that I will love the combination of the linear line of the channel couple with he curving of the head... I still want a surprise bezel sapphire
39.gif
27.gif
so part of me wants to go custom
23.gif
to make sure I have the same diamond quality as the honey band and size of the melees and maybe add the surprise diamond?...kwim...

Elle - would you mind taking a picture of the side of your ring perhaps with a thin band (if you have one) next to the ring is there a gap? or if you have pictures of it already,,, I would sooo greatly appreciate it TIA

Sure, give me a few minutes.

I think I''m too late but another dissenting vote here I''m afraid.

I would go with the CT ring because it''s much more unusual and light will enter your diamond at all angles. I also love the idea of having a few delicate diamonds moving up the side of the tension setting. However, I would change one element. I would make the surprise princess smaller because it overwhelms the side profile and actually gets in the way of seeing the profile of the diamond. If it were smaller and more delicate I think it would look stunning.

I tension set my chameleon diamond and not regretted it once. I adore looking at the side profile - the ring has two personalities - one from the top and a totally different look from the side. I

LD- Thank you sweetie for chiming in... you are not tooo late at all, as I am still at the planning stages and I'm not going to jump the gun on this *supposedly* Final reset x 4 ...lol I agree, I love the view and always have with the tension look but now I'm not too sure about the bar on the center (as it looks a bit like my first custom ring before I put a colored stone in- the corner of the bar was a bit sharp
23.gif
I'm sure I can soften that though).... I wish I had my own CAD software and know how to use it...lol

first pic is with my tiff knife edge. No gap. It''s in yellow gold and you can see the diamond reflecting the color.

2nd pic with platinum band. I'm guessing this one to be about 2.5, maybe 3 mm. Also no gap.

Final reset x 4???? I thought I was the only one that did this!!!

I''d love to be let loose with my own CAD! Mind you, I don''t think the family would ever eat again because I don''t think they''d be able to drag me into the kitchen long enough to cook!

Funnily enough I''ve just posted piccies of my chameleon diamond in tension setting (again!) in another thread. If you imagine the centre bit for your diamond and then photoshop a princess diamond over the side - does that help? The edges of my ring are very smooth and thankfully no sharp bits. I know it''s a totally different look than you''re thinking but it might help.

Here''s a close up of the setting. You can see that it''s gently rounded.

Thank you sooo much, do you think you can take picture looking from the shank side? turn your hand to 3'O clock perhaps
emembarrassed.gif
... I really really appreciate your input
nevermind Elle!!! you are too gracious to take these pictures for me, and I definitely feel that it would go well with the HOney band.
you are awesome!!!!

D&T- I'm going to throw one more into the mix. When I was deciding on a setting, it was between this Durnell and the Sholdt. Sometimes I wish I went for the durnell. I know this isn't isn't exactly what you're looking for but it combines some of the elements you want.

Elle! Thank you so much for thinking of me and I actually stopped and looked at a few of the Durnells as well. I stopped into a shop yesterday, and a ring just popped up... I know this may look out there, but when I tried it on it was just heavenly
30.gif
Its Eddie Sakimoto's piece, the profile has an open pavilion and I loved the graduated channel set stones, my band sat flushed with this ring with a slight gap at the bezel -but it somehow looks really good, however there is about two elements that I did NOT like which was the amount of gold on the side profile next to the open pavilion
40.gif
and it expanded over my finger a bit
37.gif
I loved the bezel as it is, not too thin and not too large.... am I nuts!!!! I went back to try some more CT rings and the CT ring is out of the running now

Hey elle
35.gif
How are you doing on this gray and chilly New York Saturday? I l
30.gif
ve your mounting and that killer 2.50 ct G VS2. It''s a gorgeous headlight! It gives me palps just thinking about it.

I think your mounting is extremely safe for a diamond, and in platinum it''s dead set. That stone''s not going anywhere. That''s a great ring for an active life style. It still looks good too and I know you''ve had it for a little while.

I can''t wait for D&T''s to come in. In yellow gold with channel set diamonds, it''s going to look like an entirely different ring.

I can''t help but think that the graceful and fluid nature of the Sholdt is going to melt your heart D&T (and ours!), but then again, I''m not a girl that''s drawn to angles. Not that there''s a single thing wrong with angles in either metal work or stones, I just like more graceful lines. I''m actually pretty excited for you!

With all of these gorgeous new projects in the works, my designing mind is chomping at the bit to work on something new
31.gif
.

Gemgirl- thank you again. i HATE this weather. Feels like winter today
8.gif

D&T- The ring is interesting but yeah, the side profile looks too thick. You said you liked it with your new band, but what I''m picturing is your is so delicate being over shadowed by the bulkier ring. Interesting it didn''t happen. Just goes to show that you can''t get the full idea from a pic.
I''m just going to add one more thing and I won''t comment anymore
9.gif
. I''m wondering if you go for something too flashy will you regret it down the line and want the simplier look? That''s one of the reasons I didn''t go for the durnell. I figured I could always add a band or two to the sholdt if I wanted more bling. But for those days when you want something simplier, there''s nothing you can do about a big blingy e-ring. Just saying an interesting solitare (Sholdt) can be worn either way.
Why is the CT out of the running????

Gemgirl, Elle- you ladies are AWESOME!!! you have made me think about things that I would have otherwise missed, and I''m so grateful for your comments and others on PS - what a wonderful community
36.gif
. when I went back to try the CT ring, I started to hesitate as like DD had mentioned about my first custom set from WF, I ended up not "loving it" it so much for some of the things I thought I could with the CT ring which is the boxy look for the head. And you and Gemgirl and others are right especially having something a little low key to dress it up maybe flow a bit as well but still have some presence perhaps, My solitaire right now is lacking a bit of ''oomph'' I have to take a break from this and keep trying those settings and wait for the sholdt sample perhaps.

Again Everyone Thank you for your thoughts and taking your time to help with my reset...hopefully for the last time. I will revisit this thread once I get a sample of the sholdt... until then... take care
36.gif
everyone

ok, I''m late, but so glad you are leaning towards the scholt. It''s so elegant with the smooth lines yet BLING with the channel set. Beautiful and classic.
