Engagement ring to match vintage wedding band?

I need some advice.

My girlfriend has a family heirloom wedding band she'd like to keep and wear as her wedding band.

I'd like to propose to her this year and was looking for advice on an engagement ring that may work well with it. I've seen a lot of posts about finding a wedding band that works around an engagement ring, but not so much the opposite.

The wedding band is also missing 1 diamond, which I'd like to also replace with a new diamond or maybe a cool different stone for uniqueness.

Here is a picture of her current wedding ring that I'd like to find an engagement ring to work with. Do they make anything that may be able to work with the curvature or match the stylr/color?

Pretty ring! The thing is, that sucker is large - it might be tough to stack another ring on top of it w/o looking strange proportionally. Can she wear this one on her right hand?

Very pretty.
oneam makes a good point that the ring already is wide. Another option, if she does not want to wear this one on her right hand, would be to move her engagement ring to her right hand after the wedding and just wear this band on the left. That way, her engagement ring does not need to be a full match, but maybe a complimentary style.

I agree with the other posters. This ring is a big look and I think it is intended to be worn as a stand alone ring. There is no rule that you have to have an engagement ring and a wedding ring. If wants this as her wedding ring perhaps she would like you to get her a nice necklace or earrings that she can wear for the wedding and will always be special because of that. Or, if she does want two rings ask about how she would feel about taking the stones out of this ring to have a smaller band made that could coordinate with an engagement ring of her choosing. Some people are sentimental and like to repurpose stones into a piece they can wear every day, other people are sentimental and want a piece to remain untouched.

I'd go with a classic solitaire that will allow a flush fit to the band. You'll need to know the height of the wedding band (height from the finger to the top of the stones/prongs) to work out a ering setting that will fit sufficiently flush. But, something like this Danhov with the edge softened would suit and allow a wedding band to fit snugly. I'd stick with yellow gold (or at least a yellow gold shank with a white metal head) to match her wband.

IMG_7055.PNG I agree going with a solitaire. I think a bezel set solitaire like this James Allen might look beautiful stacked with the wedding band since those stones look bezel set.

What a beautiful wedding band. Really lovely. My advice is to go in person with her and let her try on different styles of engagement rings to see if you both can find something that really works well with the band. I love the suggestion to wear it on another finger (because this is a substantial band that can really hold its own if you kwim). If that doesn't appeal to you both then I am sure you can find something that works but I think you must have her try it on with the band before you decide.

Congratulations on finding each other. :kiss2: That was the hard part. And please come back with lots and lots of photos.:appl:
