Hi everyone - as some of you know, I've been thinking about swapping out my 2.25 ct asscher diamond solitaire for either a 2 ct round brilliant with the Tiffany deco-style setting, or a 2 ct round brilliant solitaire. I also considered maybe a 3-stone asscher or 2 ct cushion solitaire. I ordered a bunch of fake engagement rings that look like the styles that I thought about changing my engagement ring to, and I'm wearing them here with my asscher diamond band to show what the set would look like after I make the change. Let me know which style you like best. I will say, that I've pretty much decided NOT to go with the 3-stone asscher or cushion, but I'm posting pics just in case you guys are interested, and to hear your feedback.

This is similar to the tiffany deco setting with channel set traps and asschers

Vesper,
I''m sorry but to me, nothing seems to fit asscher band unless it is paired with another asscher. The rounds just seem so out of place. The cushion is the oddest one out of all of them.

This is the link to the tiffany site for the actual deco-style ring (I like this style better than the one in my photo) and you can also view it stacked with my wedding band:

Can you tell this one is my favorite?

My husband really liked it too when I showed it to him on the site.

Hi chrono,

Thanks for the feedback - I didn''t like the cushion either, but I thought I would post it just cause I had pics

I think you''re asscher is stunning - why the change?

One more post - because I know some people were wondering why I wanted to swap my asscher for a brilliant cut, here is a pic of my asscher next to the three-stone in outdoor light. Even though it''s F color, it doesn''t always look that bright to me, and it''s not cut as well as the "Royal asscher-type" that''s below it. Maybe I would have preferred a RA, with the extra fire from the extra facets, but I think I''m missing the extra fire that I wanted ...

Hi Po!

The 3-stone asscher is from QVC, and all the others are from HSN. Pretty neat, huh?

By the way, I''ve always meant to tell you, I love your rings!!!

thanks. I love the emerald cut/asscher family, they''re timeless. If I were ever to upgrade, I''d go for an asscher. I love that they''re extremely rare in the UK.

I must admit tho, the tiffany art deco is gorgeous and would go nicely with your band. After looking at it again, I think it would be an unusual pairing and I''m all for originality and making it your own.

The asscher solitaire or the asscher three-stone are my favorites. But from the other shapes, the round in the tiffany setting.

(BTW, I adore your asscher solitaire, and will be happy to take it off your hands, if you'd like!

Well ... as you can probably guess ... I prefer your Asscher solitare. If I had to pick a 2nd fave ... I suppose the Tiffany Deco-style setting wins.

I''m a bit confused though. Would you just outright SELL your current ering & get the original Tiffany Deco-ring with a 2ct Tiff RB? I def def would NOT want a copy of that Tiffany Deco ring. The ones I''ve seen have been BAAAAAAAD. Between the getting less $$ for your existing ring and the huge markup on Tiff ... you''re probably gonna pay about double the cost for a *minimal* "improvement". I truly can''t fathom that.

I didn''t vote, because I thought either way I''d go would be misleading to your results...

BUT... here are my thoughts on it

I far and away prefer your asscher solitaire, but I''m obviously biased. If I were to choose between the RB solitaire and the tiffany deco setting, I''d definitely go with the tiffany deco. It ties the RB to the asschers nicely, where there''s not much of a connection with the solitaire.

Just my opinion

I can see from your side-by-side pic with the 3-stone why you''re frustrated with your asscher.

Hi deco,

I was going to trade my asscher for an RB at the jeweler we got it from, and then have someone make the tiffany deco-style setting. I was thinking about contacting Mark at EGD, Whiteflash, and also Quest Jewelers in Northern VA which is where I live. I thought I would cast around and talk to soem different jewelers and get some estimates. Maybe even call Leon ... But, if no one thinks they could do a good job with it, then I may just go with an RB solitaire.

Either way, there''s no rush on this project - after talking to my husband, we going to look at doing it for an Xmas or Valentine''s gift probably.

After seeing the fakey asscher in the 3-stone, I totally fell in love with asschers again, but I realize that I''ll probably never find a d-color royal asscher that we could afford, in the size I would want (definitely not one that I can get with my trade-up policy) so the RBs are looking really appealing. I am also tired of constantly feeling like my asscher looks smudgy & wiping it with my shirt 100 times a day

Maybe I can get an EC or asscher RH ring to scratch that itch some time in the future ...

ITA with musey!

Hi Musey! Thanks for your feedback! If my asscher looked like your RA I probably wouldn''t even be considering a change - love those patterns!

I love your Asscher ER and WB, but I voted for a 3 stone Asscher because it sounded like you just wanted a bit of a change in the look. I also agree that Asschers go with Asschers.

Asscher three stone! Asscher three stone!

Vesper- I went from a princess solitare to a princess three stone and oh.my.god... the bling factor goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up! And it''s a good way to get more finger coverage while keeping your center stone (for financial and/or sentimental reasons). You have a fab fab fab asscher, and that three stone asscher is so yummy!!

So the three stone asscher gets my vote!!!

I voted for RB with trap sides. I love how it looks with your wb

. It''s not matchy-matchy but it goes with your eternity band IYKWIM.

I completely love the 3 stone Asscher!

Well, since I am TOTALLY unbiased here (cough cough) I like the 3-stone look. (cough cough!)

I also like the round in the vintage tiffany second. The steps in the sidestones would sort of tie into the asscher band! (Which I would love to have someday!!)

edited...what is it with my horrible spelling skills lately?? Sheesh!

oh, vesper, are you suuuuuuuure you want to change?? I LOVE your asscher solitiare. In fact, if for any reason I ever wanted to upgrade, I would want a stone like yours! I know exactly what you''re saying about the fire of a RA--Musey''s ring is AMAZING! But your current ring is just so pretty...

I''d never really thought about a 3-stone asscher until I saw Evelynn''s incredible 3-stone. I know you''ve already kind of dismissed a 3-stone, but maybe if you added stones to the side you''d feel like you had more "umph" to your ring?

I actually saw this thread before I left work, but didn''t want to reply because all I could really say is "noooo!!" but since so many ladies are swapping their asschers in for stones that face up larger, I decided to pop in Tiffany''s on my way home. I compared my asscher to the same size RB (mine is smaller than all y''alls, but still...) and while the round brilliant was gorgeous in its own right, I just can''t imagine making the swith.

So just to repeat myself, are you suuuuuuuure you want to make the switch and give up your beautiful asscher???

Not that I''m biased or anything... :)

mmm... 3 stone.

Honey...what you have is perfect with the band! I love it the best. Nothing round. The cushion was next...and to me the three stone and the band were just tooo many boxes! I felt like Marcel Marceau (here).

If it is your stone your aren''t in love with, find one you are. But the set up you have created is the best of all worlds. Elegant and classic...as classic as an asscher can be!!

DKS

Why not find an asscher or an EC that you really love? It seems like it''s the stone that has you bummed out...
