Engagement ring - fancy brown with halo? Help please!

I have drooled over that fancy brown AVC for quite some time. Glad to hear it might be getting a loving home!

Maybe it's just my monitor, but I love the color of the AVC ("brown-yellow") and rather actively dislike the color of the pear ("brownish yellow"). The AVC reads as a warm brown and will look lovely and warm and chocolatey in RG... but the pear just looks kind of like badly faded wood paneling to me. Or... very sparkly baby poop? (Sorry, pear, I know that was mean, but I can't think of any other good comparisons.) Cut issues aside, I think the AVC's color is much nicer, and you'll have an easier time reselling it if you don't end up using GOG's upgrade policy.

The point you make about reselling is a fair one. Although now after looking at all the pears I am thinking of getting a very shallow yellow pear with a halo, and just keeping it when I do upgrade.

Since this is a temp ring, i would go with the AVC and put that stunner in a simple rose gold setting. When you to upgrade, you have that security of knowing you're getting 100% of your purchase price towards the next diamond.
