Hi, all. Complete newbie here. It's getting close to time to pop the question, so on the hunt for an engagement ring. To start, I know NOTHING about diamonds, so I've spent the last couple weeks reading up.
I know she would love a cushion cut solitaire on a thin gold band with white fittings. Sounds strange to me, but what momma wants, momma gets I guess.
That said, from all my research, cushion cut diamonds seem like a real pain to pick out. I know there are multiple 'cut' types, and lots of considerations. Here's the bottom line -- she will be happy with anything I get her - it's not about the ring (but we all know it's important, right?). But, I want to get her something as nice as possible. What I am looking for is something in the 2 carat range and budget for the diamond maxes out around $14,000.
From what I am reading, brilliant cut gives more surface area, so will make the ring look a little bigger. Is that accurate? Again, as a guy who has never bought a diamond, this stuff is intimidating. If anyone sees something that fits the bill, please let me know.
Appreciate y'all.
