Hi everyone,

This is my first post, so apologies if it's in the wrong place or I'm not following norms. Please correct me if so. I've found this site to be immensely helpful for the knowledge resources and tools. I think I've found the right round diamond for an engagement ring. I have it on hold now. I've attached the GIA report, and image of the diamond. Measurements below. The HCA score was 1.3

Measurements: 8.28 x 8.31 x 5.07
Caret: 2.12
Color: I
Clarity: VS1
Cut: Excellent
Table: 57%
Depth: 61.3%
Crown Angle: 34.0%
Pavilion Angle: 41.0%
Girdle: 3.5% Medium
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

I'm a little concerned about the Comments: "Clarity grade is based on clouds that are not shown." Should I be worried that this will impact the fire / brilliance of the stone despite the HCA Score 1.3 based on the angles? Is there anything else I should be considering before finalizing?

Thank you all for the help,
Charles

It looks like you found a nice diamond. You might feel better after reading this thread. In a VS1 stone it shouldn’t be an issue.

I was told by several people to run away from diamonds that say “clarity based on clouds not shown” as the diamond will be cloudy!!

Hopefully some of the experts on here can comment on it for you.

I do not like that comment even in VVS. Plus, the stone is slightly leaky.
I would keep looking.

with your budget you should have plenty options, i'd suggest keep looking if it's bothering you.

Are clouds in VVS an issue for clarity??

Thank you all for the feedback. I've also gone back read through many of flyingpig's past comments, which I found extremely helpful as well. I've included some more information below along with 2 other options I found and linked. Now I'm torn between the 3. Any advice / comments would be appreciated!

Thank you all again for the help.

Here is the link with a video for the diamond I have on hold:

There are two more options I found as well:

JA 2.27 Carat round diamond | I Color VVS2 Clarity Excellent Cut | HCA 1.3 | $19,210

2.12 I VS1
Notice the black triangles between the arrows. You get these as the PA approaches 41.0. In this case, they are a bit large and uneven. It is a sign of wonky pavilion, which often leads to leakage. Looking at the video, I am not impressed. Light return is not eye catching. Need the IS image to confirm, but I am not thrilled so far. The diamond looks a bit better in the video than in the screensjot.

2.11 I VS1
True Heart.
It is True Heart. I kinda wish the AGS report had the ASET image. I am not a fan of 2 yr old report. Who knows what could have happened to the stone during the two years?

2.28 I VVS
I find this stone more eye catching than True Heart with bright light return with crisp facets. I really want to see the idealscope image for this one. I wish the stone was noy tilted for better assessment. Recently graded.

Thank you for taking the time to give your advice. I went with your suggestion.

I can't wait for her to see it.
