Let''s see, there were a couple questions: split shank, yes, it is but only 1/3 of the way down. Whether to put a band with it? I just don''t know- what do you all think? I have never had anything so big on my hand before (quite new to jewelry in general as I have always had pets (including horses) and was always exposing my hands to rough use...) I really wanted to sapphire to be the "star" so I would think it would have to be something relatively plain... I''m certainly open to suggestions!

Tell you what, I am warming up to this pretty, sparkly stuff FAST Poor Bobby- (my wonderful, thoughtful FI) he''s in for it now!
