It's finally here! My wonderful, amazing boyfriend - now fiance - proposed last week with a ring we conceived of and designed together.
Before I say anything else, I need to say that Erica at Love Affair Diamonds was AMAZING to work with -- we have, I'm embarrassed to say, maybe hundreds of emails back and forth discussing stones, setting, my worries, etc. She put up with all of that, and delivered an absolutely gorgeous product. I can't recommend her highly enough.
Onto the ring itself! The center diamond is a 1.74 I VVS2 OEC; 7.57x7.77x4.93. The setting is in platinum -- a bezel around the diamond surrounded by a halo of French cut deep blue sapphires. Gorgeous milgraining around both inner and outer bezel.
I was worried at first (oh, macro shots) that the bezel around the diamond contained too much metal and would look clunky -- it simply does not AT ALL in real life. All you see is fire and sparkle and twinkling sapphires. I love the ring and I also love the fact that I don't see the same style on everyone else; it's fun to have something a little bit "different."
Glamour shots from Erica below; hand shots in the following post. The caveats are: 1) they're taken with my silly phone camera, so they don't do justice to the gorgeous setting and stone, and 2) I haven't had a chance to get a manicure, so you get my unkempt nails/hands -- sorry!
