Hey PSers,
I’m in the market for an upgrade & debating between the classic emerald 3 stone or this trapezoid/baguette one (hoping it’s not too tacky as I know sometimes less is more) I want to do a general poll. I got the images from BrilliantEarth (I know that is not the best resource) but I wanted to share with you all anyway. Which do you like & why? Is less truly more? 3088E788-275A-4644-8A96-AF8385F364FC.png 502F71C2-6A5B-493D-8602-39870AD992A8.png 8E2E181F-904E-4CC0-BBEC-99C3D1E60011.png

i personally like the 1st one with the trapezoids, the look is classy and more modern to me than the other two

I like the middle one but think all of them would look good. Can you go try some styles on locally?

I like the first one the best as well, from a proportions and balance stand point. Blue Nile also has a gorgeous E-W pear side stone setting that you can pair with an emerald center stone, not sure if you can special order it in yellow gold?

#1 or #3...

Depending on the spread of the EC, pairing it with baguettes is a classic...think Grace Kelly’s or Liz Taylor’s

The first ring got my vote too, as it looks more elegant and balanced to my eyes.

The first one is my favourite but a spready EC with tapered baguettes is gorgeous too.

I like the emerald with the traps (first one). The one with the additional baguettes draws my eyes away from the center stone which isnt a good thing
in my book. I had a pear with baguettes like the third setting you posted and ended up not liking it because it was so hard to find a wedding band
to pair with it (besides the typical one that goes with the side baguettes which I did not want). Ended up resetting and love it now!

EC with step cut traps is probably my favourite 3-stone ring style, and this ring is the inspiration for me 3-stone with an EC Aqua main stone with 2 step cut Morganite traps as side stones, all custom-cut for me by Jeff White, still to be set!

#1 or #3

#3 is much more timeless IMO!

What size center were you thinking?

I love both as long as the sides are the same size with the baguettes. More finger coverage. The third ring should have longer baguettes as they look short and is my fave classic ER setting.Love all rings you can not go wrong.

IMHO, baguettes work well with symmetrical cut center stones. I love a pear solitaire tho.

Thanks everyone! This is a very difficult situation

does anyone think the middle (#2) is too gaudy/tacky? I love both #1 & #3 & am wondering how traps/baguettes would work if they were smaller in relation to center stone.

decisions decisions!!

I just thought it is too much, in that the traps may be a tad too big for the centre EC even without the baguettes.

Besides, I don't like claws, let alone double claws!

The third one is also nice, however, not as nice in balance and elegance as the first one to me.

Personal preferences and all that.

DK :))

20200121_163039.jpg The first one looks good.

I like the general idea of the five stone, but something about the second picture you posted seems off. If you were to do a 5 stone, I think something like this Leon Mege ring is just beautiful.

I have all three of these settings. :halo: It is 100% about proportions. Any of these settings could be lovely and any could look "off" if the sides arent properly matches. I would ask BE to drop your stone into the settings and send you photos.

@caribbeanbridetobe happy to share! I have other step cuts, but these are the ones that are reasonably close to the OP's question.
Full disclosure I am having an emerald five stone made by DK right now and am on pins and needles waiting for it to be done.

:kiss2: Have you done a group shots of all your amazing rings? That would look like an ad from a major jewelry shop! Love your style!

@DauphineMucha Nah, I think that would be a bit much. I am happy to post things when folks are trying to decide what they are after though.
