Hi all, I'm back after a not too long break. I've noticed that the diamond+ring combinations actually take 7-10 days to ship, so I'm actually in the market sooner than expected. I think I'm going to pull the trigger by 11/6 in order to take advantage of JA's 15% setting discount.

Having said that, I wanted to throw another ASET into the mix. This is a 1.06 ct F-VVS2. I wanted to get some opinions on how this compares to @Matthews1127 's suggested diamond, which I've included again here, so you can see the comparison side by side.

New: 1.06 F-VVS2...is there any significance to darker vs. brighter colors?

The 1.06FVVS2 is a good stone. My only concern is in the center, where there is a lot more green than Red, and a larger amount of black and gray area, which indicates you may have a “dead center”. Do you have video of this diamond in motion?

There are consistent dark steps in/near the center. It’s still “good”, but the 1.00FVVS1 is “great”....
The depth is better in the 1.00FVVS1 compared to the more deep 1.06FVVS2. That’s likely where you’re getting most of the extra .06ct; the l x w ratio is almost exact between the two, indicating that the 1.00 faces up just as large as the 1.06. You’re not gaining spread...

I have a true fondness for this diamond...for you. I don’t know you or your beloved, but step Cuts are my “thing”, and I’m working hard to find the “one”. I guess my type A is showing.
I have researched & absorbed step Cuts (esp EC’s) for nearly 15 years. I can honestly say this is one of the finest I have seen at such a reasonable price...
Great EC’s are very difficult to find, without spending $10k+. 1.00FVVS1 is a “unicorn”. I do hope you will give her a forever home; I know your intended will not be disappointed...

JA doesn’t give an option to view with EC. No way in hell will I believe an EC cannot be set in that semi mount. JA can put a 1.00FVVS1 in the center head of that setting. Request a custom head, if you have to; this is outstanding! Classic & simple, yet absolutely beautiful!! Perfect for an EC!!!

Tell the appraiser that you want it for insurance purposes. You dont want a feel good appraisal that will make you have to pay double for insurance.
It should be for around what you paid plus maybe 20% or so to allow for any price increase in the next 5ish years.
