Many threads say that the width to length proportions of an emerald cut diamond are personal and do not matter as far as how well the emerald reflects light. (At least that is what I believe I am reading.) And some info says 1:150 or 1:175 make the best proportion (I may not have written that correctly - I take it to mean 1 1/2 times the width makes the best length). I am assuming that is a "visual" preference?
However, it seems to me that theoretically a square emerald would have better light reflection because of the interior "bounce" of light being more even. Does this make sense and is it true?
