Yes, I''m at it again. My dealer has a beautiful suite of emerald-cut pastel sapphires. It would make a stunning multi-line bracelet, but I can''t afford the whole thing. He''s willing to let me have 1 line. Would you set the sapphires east-west or north-south?

Depends on the size. If large, I like east/west. If small, then north south. Knowing you, my dear Harriet, they are giant stones, so east-west.

Cheaper that way too.

And pray tell, where is the picture, Miss H?

This post is worthless without pictures.

As above, depends on size, but also if you are going to have size stones. If smaller and alone, east/west. If larger and/or with "friends" than north/south.

Hmmmmm......Harriet?

Weren't you in the middle of trying to figure out a diamond necklace?

What's a multi-line bracelet?

What's a suite of emerald-cut pastel sapphires? Can you show me a photo?

No friends. They are 1.15 ct each.

Multitasking.

These are so beautiful that even my fiance is urging me on. A bracelet with rows of sapphires instead of just one.

I''m not sure what you mean by size stone? Do you mean side stones? This will be a bracelet, so that means multiple stones (stones with friends) of the same size and cut.

Harriet,
Are these graduated in colour or a parcel style where all have the same colour?

Different yummy colours.

Sounds gorgeous - how are the stones separated?

if they are close together I''d go NS, if spread out EW.

Name those colours...

Harriet, Harriet, Harriet,

You are always up to something. You design these beautiful pieces and we never get to see them, but I should talk. I don''t post pictures either.

The sapphires sound gorgeous.

East-West

I vote East/West too...

They sound gorgeous. I can''t wait to hear what you do with them.

Pandora,
I haven''t figured out a design yet. Any ideas? As for colours, there were pinks, blues, yellows ...

Another vote for east-west, and another vote for pictures!

Thanks, ladies. I''ll try to get pics.

Linda,
My tsav ring should be ready soon.

Tacori,
The baby is getting cuter with each pic.

Yeah....so I misunderstood. I have never herd the term "line" before in the context of gems....I guess you learn something new everyday. I would go for the east/west as well if there are a series of them, which it sounds like is the case. I would love to see pics of this as well.

Besides the emerald-cuts, there''s also a suite of 1.1 ct round pastel sapphires that will make a 33" necklace. I''m seriously considering that one. Which would you choose?

Both?

33" is too long for me. I'd take that grouping and make a neckace and bracelet pair out of it if the colouring allows..

I like your idea. I might even get a pair of earrings out of the bunch. Another idea would be a double strand necklace.

you are speaking my language...

do they have a cushion or oval layout?? they work out beautifully for necklaces...epecially the graduated layouts.

beau-ti-ful!!!

I have a v boring meeting all evening, so I''ll amuse myself by doing some sketches - if I come up with anything fun I''ll scan them in.

What kind of clasp do you want? Also what overall width of bracelet?

How many stones are you thinking of getting?

Sorry - loads of questions...

I know, it really should be a bannable offense.

Rocks,
No cushions, but ovals. ;)

Pandora,
Thank you darling. I''ll leave the details to your discretion.

the ec''s are rare...very tough to match...the ovals will show the stones better, and should drape better as a necklace...

i''m addicted to sapphire layouts.....

El,
You''re one to speak. ;)

Rocks aka my new gem pal,
My dealer has rounds, em-cuts and ovals. Decisions, decisions. On top of those, he has an unheated hot pink sapphire, which he''s urging me to buy instead because it''s a real rarity.
