Hi All,
I''ve been a lurker for about a year and learned a lot. Been looking at stones, pictures, reading posts & tutorials...at end of day more confused than when I began.
I''ve been hunting the perfect rad (for me).
Is it possible to find @1.20-1.30 crushed glass/crunchy certed rad slightly outside ideal specs under $6k?
So far a stone that we''re considering is an H/SI1 70.2 D and 65.0 T. tk-vtk G. I have not seen it yet, but am very concerned with the depth & girdle...isn''t this going to face up smaller?

I think I am putting too much pressure on myself as I am in the process of completing A.J.P. and really want to do well with my own stone.

Does anyone have a pic of their under 1.50 rad solitaire set in a cathedral basket that may look like what I hope to find?

Thanx!

Hi cellini and welcome!

There are suggested guidelines for this shape but really there aren't any ideal specs or proportions for a radiant, these shapes really need to be seen and can't be judged by numbers, also as you can't tell anything about the type of faceting you want without seeing images of the diamond. Also fancy shapes can hide weight in other areas, your depth looks ok but no guarantee of anything, go by the diameter measurement to see the face up size, and that the very thick girdle isn't wasting weight/ visual size.

Are you looking in jewellery stores or with online vendors? If working online, make sure you work with a vendor who has in house diamonds and can supply the info you need to make an informed decision on a well cut diamond such as ASET images, detailed photos etc.

Here is a thread with some radiant rings in which might be useful.

Congrats on the AJP by the way!!

Radiants are less available than the most popular shapes which are round brilliant (ca. 80-85% of all diamonds are cut in the round shape) and princess cut (ca. 5-10% of all diamonds are cut in the princess shape).
Well-cut diamonds of any shape that are 1.2 carats or more but less than 1.5 carat are less abundant as most cutters try to reach 1.5 carat mark as that is when the trade price doubles. There is always more demand than supply for 1.2+ but less than 1.5 carat diamonds so such diamonds command a premium price and get sold more quickly than just 1.0+ carat or 1.5 carat.

When you combine the two aspects i.e. 1.2+ carat AND radiant you can see now why they are harder to find.

Thanks guys for the info.
I went ahead & saw the stone. It was the one! Hubby bought it for me today. Now off to figure out the setting.
Huge Thanx for the replies
