Absolutely gorgeous! I love the contrast of the platinum with the yellow sapphire. It is such an elegant design and it makes the sapphire the star. Congratulations!
Chrono, thanks for chiming in. That means a lot coming from someone as experienced as you! When we got the sapphire in the mail we were prepared to exchange it for another if we saw obvious flaws, but really the cut looked better than a lot of the other stones on their site (to our untrained eyes) so we think it was just meant to be. I think we got a great value for what we paid. While there is a small feather it is hard to see from almost any angle, and the sparkle makes up for it.
When we got the finished ring back, Mark said, "I can't believe it's so big! It looked pretty small in the NSC box." Heh... while it's about the same size as a 90 pt diamond the setting makes it look quite a bit bigger on my hand.
FWIW, I think Brian's signature full cut F/G VS melee (2 pters for my ring, I believe) does so much to highlight the yellow of the sapphire. The pave is so white and sparkly! And the platinum work is just exquisite. While we looked at the work of several local B&M jewelers with in-house benches, the rings we found were very pretty but not as subtly elegant as Brian's pieces. I am so pleased we decided to work with him, and I can't imagine a local jeweler would have provided better service. Oh, and pricewise? Much less than getting a similar setting at a top-quality major B&M store (you probably know the setting I'm referring to).
Argh, now I just have to wait to do another piece with him... off to search PS for some complementary band ideas.
