So I found a local b&m that has offered to set a diamond I purchase from the internet, and he will insure and guarantee that he will not break, or in anyway alter or harm the diamond. Of course he said it will cost a little more to set the diamond, he needs to charge more to cover the risk of liablity. His only demands are 1) he needs to inspect the quality of the diamond to make sure it is not broke or potential for a break, and 2) he would like a chance to bet a the price on the diamond.
I don't know how much extra he will charge yet. What would any of you think sounds fair? I really like the idea because it gives me a place to take the diamond, plus I am looking for something rather particular, since me GF has a very small hand. I was also thinking of a custommade setting.
