Hi everyone,

I am new to pricescope and I want to thank everyone for creating such a warm atmosphere filled with passionate people that allows me to feel safe enough to post here. I'm just beginning my search for a ring that hopefully my GF will love. So far we've only been to the mall to look at chain vendors but as I've read here, it seems that there are many other options that with a bit of hard work, pay off immensely. I don't have a big budget, approximately $3500 (Canadian). And though I still don't understand all the abbreviations and language used here on the forum, I'll try my best to describe the particular styles she has been drawn to most.

She is quite petite and has small hands (ring size 4.5) so she is looking for something dainty but sturdy feeling on her hand. Her personal preference is a rounded square halo ring with either a cushion or round stone in the center. She prefers a lower setting with not too much height and if possible, to have tapered "pave" arms. She tried on halos with stones ranging from .5 to 1.0 cw but feels that anything over .75 cw feels too big (probably because of the halo).

I feel like that for her, she So far I've checked settings from James Allen, Blue Nile, Whiteflash and Gabriel & Co. but haven't quite found anything that fits the bill and the budget.

From the rings she's tried on in the mall, she liked this one the most from People's Jewellers:

The link for the ring can be found here: http://www.peoplesjewellers.com/product/index.jsp?productId=22419336
If possible, I would like to find something similar for her and in the same price range but with higher quality diamonds and craftsmanship.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may give and I look forward to hearing what you have to say!

Hi tcps! :wavey:

Let me know if I did this wrong, but I think that would translate to about $3150 US dollars... Will the budget be for the entire ring or stone only?

Yes that's approximately the right amount. The exchange hasn't been too kind to us Canadians lately. The budget is for the whole ring so my expectations aren't extremely high :)

I'd be willing to go up to $4000 USD and upwards if it really is something special though!

Ritani is great quality, esp for the price. There are several PS members that have this setting and it is really beautiful!

What did you think of this from BN (.50 center)

I also wanted to mention that you will get more spread if you go with a round stone than if you get a cushion, as they tend to face up smaller than rounds. If she likes the cushion shape, you can always mount it in a cushion halo. That's what I did -- best of both worlds!

I just remembered BN would be better because there won't be an extra charge to Canada... sorry, OP.

I didn't know they didn't charge extra. That's nice!
If you liked that setting I'd pop this into it

Use the SCOPE10 discount and it would be about 3150. Call it an amazing day.

Actually, I'm not sure on the specifics... I just always remember PS from Canada saying they'd rather use BN because of the duties/taxes with other vendors here. Don't quote me on that -- I have been known to make stuff up! :o

Thanks msop04, clueless and niel for your replies! Going to mull over them when I get home from work! :twirl:
