Dw’s anticipated lab diamond upgrade arrived loose. I initially posted about purchasing a 2.05 carat E VS1. We decided to go in another direction and go a tad bigger size. I came across this diamond https://www.gcalusa.com/certificate-search.html?certificate_id=313471368 and noticed it dropped in price $300 so we purchased it. It seemed like a great deal as it was $800 less than the 2.05 carat E VS1. Initial reaction is it looks stunning and passes our eye test. I am not a diamond expert so any feedback on it would be appreciated. The one question I have is the black triangle I notice from rotating the diamond a facet reflection? As for the setting we decided to go with DK. The dw really likes the vatche and jovyn setting. I asked him to create us an inspiration of both styles. We don’t know where to begin with reading CADS so advice would appreciated. 749D684F-4553-4571-8701-2EEDC607595B.jpeg

Wow, it looks like a fireball! What a gorgeous diamond.

The CAD looks very nice to me, but I haven't owned a Vatche or a Jovyn, so hopefully others will chime in.

Thank you! I came across this diamond looking at all old threads of you and @DejaWiz recommending diamonds and this was one you had linked a few months ago. Do you happen to know if this black triangle I notice when rotating the diamond is a facet reflection or something else?

Just a reflection from being in the diamond holder.

The ring arrived today. It looks much closer to the jovyn than the vatche. We were a little bummed as the band is thicker than the vatche and has a sharper knife edge. She really wanted the vatche style shank that had a softer knife edge and thinner shank. For comparison her eternity is 2.5mm. There was also a couple QC issues with DK. I reached out to Amy from DK and she is so awesome. They sent us a overnight label to send back to them and will issue us a small credit for our troubles. 85B54B80-0B67-4A04-B014-7882F6B80869.jpeg

Ok, everyone quick update: So we ended up sending back the ring to DK. Apparently, when we were doing our ring Amy Phillips was on her much deserved vacation so their was some communication errors in regards to the finished CAD and actual ring. There was also some QC issues with the finished ring. Amy got involved and made everything smooth as butter. Since Amy said the entire ring would have to be redone the wife decided to go in another direction. She came across a old post on here from ps and fell in love with a previous setting DK made in the past about 6-7 years ago. Amy was such a delight and went above and beyond and even sent the wife a wax mold to try on before final CADS and set us up with his uber bench. She even allowed my wife to use the current setting until her slot was ready for the uber bench. The wife decided to go with more petite claw prongs this time around as the other claw prongs on her first ring would snatch on stuff. David emailed us final photos of the ring and it is being overnighted to us and will be here tomorrow. I can’t thank DK and Amy Phillips enough for their amazing customer service! Here are the photos of the new ring from DK: D9D0C029-B67E-448C-BDAF-25B36E4F9E49.jpeg

DKJ is just so unbelievably easygoing to remedy unfortunate project snafu’s, arent they?

the original ring was pretty - but the 2nd inspo ring you went with instead is stunning and it’s one of my all time favorite solitaire designs around Pricescope.

your wife’s ring is gorgeous - enjoy it well!

The ring arrived today. The wife is absolutely in love with it. Its perfection and the ring she dreamed of! First thing we noticed upon opening it is the diamond seems much more sparkly than it was with the last setting. It looks exactly like it was when the diamond was loose. I am taking a guess the new setting allows in more light? The craftsmanship is perfect and flawless. The new prongs don’t snag on anything like the previous setting. I am so happy my wife got the ring she deserves and can’t thank Amy and DK enough! 82B47CE8-7B33-4F86-9D74-1B8CB17F4B4D.jpeg

What a stunning ring! I love the dainty (may not be the right word) claws! May have to ask for similar in my ring, if they can do it.
