Really? You are one of the few who do! I love love love the back...but i''m not sure about the front (which may be due to not fitting right maybe?).

When I picture myself getting married, I either picture that dress for some reason, or a more conservative classic looking dress...

My mom and I may make a trip to the states to take a look around...maybe there will be something perfect!

yep, after trying on more than 200 dresses (seriously), i went with the marisa. the funny thing is that i have small waist and a serious booty; i''m pretty darned pear-shaped, and i avoided anything remotely mermaid-cut like the plague. but i had liked another marisa style, so the woman in the store brought this one over for me to try... i looked at it on the hanger and thought, ''heeeelll no!'' in fact, as i stepped into it, i believe my exact words were ''this may be a disaster of epic proportions.'' i was surprised that it''s actually not a true mermaid cut - it''s straight to the knee, rather than curving in along the thighs, if that makes sense. that could be why you don''t love it, if you''re searching for a true mermaid shape. anyway, enough analysis about the dress! it''s supposed to come in in january for my march wedding - so that''s probably not enough time to help you out.

anyway, i can totally relate to not finding the dress right away. i was convinced i''d never find anything i loved, and i like fashion, so i was pretty disappointed as i searched. i also was pretty reluctant to spend, oh, about $400 to $500 PER HOUR to wear something i felt iffy about... i''m not a tear shedding type, but you shouldn''t have reservations about your wedding dress - it''s probably the most photographed thing you''ll ever wear, if for no other reason! (which is another thing about those sashes - they''re pretty of-the-moment. not particularly classic, if you care about that.)
Really...that is interesting! I would love to see a picture of you in your Marisa...did you buy it in a store or did you get it from netbride?

I know about the sash...I wouldn''t wear one with the Marisa as I agree with everyone that it chops it in half. I think they put it there because the dress didn''t fit well and they were trying to cover it up?!

I don''t think I''m necessarily searching for a true mermaid cut...I think there are just a lot of them out there and I sort of surprised myself when I put them on and they looked decent.

Arg...the search continues. I may try on the Marisa again to see if it was just the fit of that size that didn''t work or if it just didn''t fit my body at all.

As for sashes on the other dresses, (especially #3) I did feel like it made it look better on me. It is not a for-sure that I''ll wear one....but in some dresses I do prefer it.

I think I need to try on more dresses...sigh...

Okay I tried on a few more...these are the only two pics I was able to get...sorry they are dark. I was trying to not get caught!!

They are both Barbra Allin gowns...

<----that''s my mouth dropping open! OMG! October!!! I absolutely love this dress, especially on you (the first Barbra Allin)!!! All the dresses you''ve tried on have been pretty, but I think this one is fantastic. And it''s very flattering. The other dresses you tried on were nice as well, but then I saw the pic of you in this one and BAM! Hot bod! lol You totally rock this dress and I think you have an amazing figure for it.

P.S. Did you get to sneak any pics of you at Lea-Ann Belter? I bet you looked amazing in those too!
Thanks Chelle! I really liked it too! I like the rouching across my midsection and if the top fit better, I think it would look better too. I''m still not certain if it is ''the one'' but I did like walking around the store in it!!

I didn''t get any pics of the Lea-Ann Belter dresses. The service was amazing there but I didn''t know if I was allowed to take pics and I didn''t want to insult the guy. He was sooo nice, calling the dresses ''his girls'' haha.

I''ll tell you though. It is hard to go from wearing a LA Belter to some other dresses...the quality is def not the same. Plus the whole custom made thing is kind of appealing to me.

She actually has a dress that is almost identical to the first Barbra Allin...if anyone has the new knot magazine, it is on page 78 and it is stunning too!! I got to try it on in the store...supposedly they are going to take pics of it for the website soon. I was lucky they let me try on stuff that wasn''t even finished yet!!

I''m definitely going back to LA Belter...I feel a LOT better knowing it is there and that I love her stuff...so I''m not as panicky as I was about not having found ''the one''.

Hi! Not sure on the prices for the Barba Allin gowns (or what your budget is), but Watters makes one almost identical to that one (9052b). It runs about $800-$900. My sister wore the watters one for her wedding!

(in this pic, the girl''s hair is in the way, but i promise it is the same sweetheart neckline on top!)

Ooohh...that is quite nice! Maybe I should try to find that one! Thanks!

Do you have any pictures of it on your sister? I find those marketing pictures hard to judge...

Thanks again!

watters dresses! They are high quality with affordable prices, and run pretty true to size which is nice. Watters also has a dress thats very similar to your dress #4 and the one above is really cute and listed on ebay for $500 or best offer in a size 10.

The watters website has a real weddings section so you can check out the dresses in real settings. Hope this helps :)

oh sorry its dress #3 that they have

I like #4 the best! BUt I''m not sure I like such a contrasting color for the sash...maybe no sash vs paler sash like in a champagne-y color? Or a wider sash?

That first Barbara Allin blows everything else out of the competition, IMO. The mermaid style (that one, at least) is *PERFECT* on you.

Thanks Ginger! It isn''t meant to have a sash...so i think that is why it looks out of place and choppy...you didn''t think the dress drew too much attention to my hips?

100% Dress #3, but it has to be with the sash

Ditto that. You look sophisticated and hour glassed and STUNNING. And I don''t LIKE mermaid gowns. But that one is made for you!

Ditto - it is gorgeous on you. I really don''t like anything else that much, but this one just looks stunning.

I''m not loving the sashes - they chop you in half. Especially on the dress that isn''t meant to have a sash (# 3 I think). It cuts right through the vertical lines on the dress, and it looks like you just took a dress not meant to have a sash and threw a sash on it.

Good Luck!

i don''t think so. the material skims over your hips very nicely i think, and i adore how it flows in the back. and you''re right, the dress isn''t fitting well right now so it''s hard to say. isn''t it aggravating how we have to guess at how a dress would look if it fit right? fit is soooo important and you can''t even have it for what is a top contender for the most important dress of your life!

ok, just saw the barbara ones and i agree. the first one is STUNNING!!
23.gif

it makes you long and lean. a great silhouette! gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

and i wouldn''t put too much on the whole "the one" dress thing. i did and i totally stressed myself out. the dress i ended up with wasn''t even one of my top 3 or even top 2 towards the end. i actually put the dress on and took it off cause i thought it was meh. at that moment in the store i didn''t get the ooie gooie feelings inside like everyone describes. but later, i found myself going back to it in my head. and i couldn''t shake it. i''m soo happy i made the decision to buy that dress. loved it in the end. but i found the experience not at all what i thought it''d be like. just wanted to through that out there.

ok...just looked again and the first barbara allen looks FAN-freakin''-TABULOUS on you. gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. it does amazing things to your figure. seriously love it.

i didn''t have a major "the one" moment either. no dropping jaws, weeping mothers or angel choirs singing
9.gif
. just tried on a whole lotta dresses and went with the one that just felt right. and then a few months later fell in love with another dress i couldn''t afford and had to be talked out of buying. heehee. i wore my first (and only) dress i bought, loved it the day of and still love it now. don''t stress. it''s supposed to be fun!

I like the first Barb Allin on you. I don''t like the ones with the sashes on you because they make you look short waisted. The only people who seem to look good with the sashes (especially the really contrasting ones) are longer waisted girls so the sashes don''t look like they are right up under the boobs.

I think you should try on more dresses with the 1st Barb Allin shape.
