I have no idea why, but i also prefer the shorter veil with your dress; it just looks so pretty!

First and most importantly, your dress is absolutely gorgeous. You are going to look so beautiful

And the veil? I really like both as well. I guess the longer one feels more formal, and the short one feels a touch more casual. But both look fantastic. I can''t decide

Hi Haven!

I prefer the shorter veil for your dress....You gown has alot going on towards the bottom, and I think the longer veil competes with/gets lost in that, if that makes sense.....The shorter one just flows better.....

As far as your hair....have you thought about maybe wearing some sort of brooch or hair jewelry? I wore a brooch in my hair on my wedding day...I got so many compliments on it....Actually, one of my really good friends borrowed it to wear for her wedding 3 wks ago! It was an antiquey- looking rhinestone brooch....not too glitzy, just some subtle sparkle that really pulled the whole look together, so that''s always an option....

Good luck!

Haven! You look so cute and happy and that dress was just MADE for you!!! I would vote for the shorter veil, because I think it is a more fun look, and it just seems to suit your personality more.

You look fabulous!

And I like the longer veil, although I like the poofiness of the shorter veil. Maybe you can find longer veil with a poofy top?

Oooh Haven you look so amazing in the Mila! You are just glowing!

I am also usually in the cathedral/sheer camp, but this time I am totally voting for the short poofy veil! I think it is perfect with that dress! I just think it is the perfect combo. It is elegant, with a side of sass - just like you! (I think anyways!)

You do look gorgeous in that dress! I like the long veil better - I like the proportions with the dress. And some red shoes with that outfit would rock!

Haven!

Nice dress! ;-) You look absolutely gorgeous in it you lucky lucky tall girl! I like both veils with the dress but I LOVE the shorter one. So cute!

You look amazing in your dress. Normally I prefer long veils also but with your dress, I much prefer the short ones.

Thanks for all the suggestions and kind words, ladies! So there are votes for both the short and the long veils, thanks a lot! :)

I''m not sure if I''m going to take the veil off at the reception, I hadn''t really thought about it. Do people do that because it gets annoying? Or you just don''t want to wear it all day? I will be wearing a gigantic hat after the reception to our after-party/housewarming party/4th of July BBQ at our new house. The hat is black with white flowers on it and it looks like it was MADE to match our invites. I''m very excited.

Jewelry--I have no clue. I''ll bring my pearls to the next fitting so I can see how they look.

Freke--My savior! Thank you! I''m going to spend the rest of the afternoon looking through all those links. I''ll let you know what I come up with. I really REALLY appreciate your help! Really, I cannot tell you how grateful I am for you right now!

Indy--I had actually said I wanted the longer veil with a poufier top, so maybe I''ll look into that. Certainly that can be done, right?

October2008Bride--My good friend calls me Side-o-Sass because she jokes that I''m all elegant and subdued at first glance but then you spend some time with me and the sass comes out, how funny that you said that! (I actually almost made that my PS name, Side-o-Sass!) I do try to be on my best behavior here on PS, though, since it''s all chronicled and posted on the Internet!

I have to say trying on the actual dress has me all excited (and motivated to hop back into the weight loss thread!)

Okay, I''ll update on shoes as I find things. This is a great excuse to put off packing up my house . . .

I feel like I''m weighing in just to go against the grain and make your life more difficult!
2.gif
But let me start by saying that you look terrific in that dress!

I really prefer the second veil. The short one says "sweet" and "pretty," but to me the longer veil better captures the drama of your dress. Like Indygal, I''d love to see it with a little more poof if possible.

I also think that dress could use the sparkle of a large rock, maybe a pear-shaped drop -- or a pear-shaped pearl drop with sparkling embellishments.

You''re going to look gorgeous no matter what you decide. Have fun!

Veil 1!

No current opinion on jewellery or shoes.

#2. But have you tried a floor length version of #2?

The first veil is meh to me. I much prefer the longer veil. If you do decide on a shorter veil, then perhaps a different one?

I like the shorter veil with the dress...they are both great, but that is my pick....With a dress that beautiful and stylish, less is more (once again, just my opinion)

Wow, how did I miss this thread? You look fabulous, and although I like both veils, I''m definitely drawn more to the first!

Okay, I think I''m going to try on some other veils at my next fitting because I''m not in love with either.

As for the shoes--FREKE! THANK YOU! I''m still going through the links and trying to make some decisions.

I took some pictures of those comfy Bandolinos I was talking about earlier. I wore them today today my master''s graduation. They are super comfortable, and in my opinion, really cute.

Here''s a shot of them from the top:

And a little montage of other views. I wish I could find these shoes in a dressier fabric, and a wedding-worthy color, yanno?

Can you tell I'm avoiding packing up my house again?

They are really pretty shoes!!! If they did make those in a fancier material they would be great. Let me know if you don''t find anything on my list though-- I totally won''t be insulted!! And that just means that I get to go looking for shoes again!

How did it feel to get tats on your feet? That''s probably the only place I''d consider getting one...

I'm still looking through the list, I will definitely let you know if I don't find anything, although there are a few on the list that I really like. At this point I'm just trying to figure out what I actually want and which ones I'm going to order to try on!

As for my rat-a-tat-tats . . .
The one on top of my foot (goldfish) hurt, but it was only bad enough for me to gently suggest that I'd prefer an outline only. The artist told me "No way, I finish what I start" and I soon realized that the filling in bit hurts far less than the outlining bit. I'd say it felt like he was taking a very tiny blowtorch to my skin and slowly burning the top layer. Painful but tolerable.

The one on the inside of my foot (tree and elephant silhouette) was seriously painful. I wasn't sure I was going to make it, and I'm sure you can see that it needs some serious touching up but I am too much of a wimp to go back to get it fixed. It was bad. The bit nearest my heel hurt the worst, although I'm not sure you can see the whole thing through the shoes. My sister was with me and she planned to get a tattoo in the same spot but chickened out and had hers done on the top of her foot after she saw how much pain I was in with mine. I'd say it felt like he was taking a large blowtorch to my skin and searing right through the skin all the way to the bone. It was awful. I could not sit still and my eyes were tearing up the entire time. However, I have always ONLY wanted tattoos on my feet, so I'd do it again in a heartbeat (and probably will). My original plan was to get animal silhouettes along the entire inside of my foot, so I still have a ways to go.

I like to think I have a high pain threshold, but getting that second tattoo made me second-guess myself for sure.

Haven, you look amazing! That dress was truly made for you!

I prefer veil #1, and I like the hair bling idea, but I think you can do better!

Haven, I am late to the game (I was graduting this week too - congrats to both of us!! Yay!!) Anyway, I''m finally going through old posts and I just wanted to say that you looke WONDERFUL in your Mila!!! It is just perfect on you and it looks amazing!!!

Can''t wait to see what you decide when you go back to try on more veils. I am torn...I think both of those look great - the dress is so perfect, it''s easy to find veils that work! Can''t wait to see what you decide on!

Haven. I''m showing you the shoes I would sell the rest of my shoes for. I have no idea if they are comfortable, but they are gorgeous (IMHO) and if you don''t like them, I might be hurt (don''t worry, just a little-and I''ll get over it) but they are 4 inches tall, gold, embellished, peep toe, and $615. I know, I know

, but just look before you totally freak out on me.

If I had money, and they had a pair in my size (7.5/8)...

Ok, unless I find something on the site I''m currently on, I''m giving up for tonight and the search shall resume tomorrow.

Maybe embellished sandals? link
They are now 40 percent off. And I''m NOT a person who spends $$ on shoes. But I would ALL OVER THOSE with your dress Haven!

Haven!!!! Do you like them at all? At $368...they're definitely more reasonable!!! And still beautiful!!! If they had them in my size, I would beg my mom for them. Seriously. Beg her. I don't beg my mom for anything (except my car but I was 19 and I needed her to help pay for it-and at $20k that's much more than a pair of $300+ shoes!!!) So what that it's 2-3 years away? My feet aren't getting bigger or smaller!!!!

ETA: if I were going to get my dragon tattoo, I would definitely get it on the top of my foot. And he'd be pretty tiny...I have a really high pain tolerance. I'm wimpy for stuff like pinches and similar, but give me serious pain and I sit through it. In silence, but still. I had meningitis and a spinal tap when I was younger and that really gave me some perspective on pain. Your elephant is really cool though--but I don't think I'd want to try that area on my foot-I'm super sensitive there as it is....

I am definitely considering those shoes, they're gorgeous! Are Stuart Weitzmans comfortable? Anybody know?

You enabler, you, Frekechild!

ETA: Yea, that part of the foot is the wrong place for a tattoo. It's far too sensitive. Your small dragon sounds great, I love both of my tattoos but the one on the top of my foot is fun because I can see it easily.

Haven, you are so pretty! And I love the dress on you...I like veil #1, by the way.

No idea on the comfort of SW shoes...but they would be GREAT with your dress.

I think that they are. I know one person on here (Star Sparkle) that has a pair, but I think she's out of town for training for her job...I'll do some research...

(I so hope that you get them...)

ETA: linkity to comparison to Manolo vs SW

Awww, thanks Claudina!

Freke--I''m going to go to Nordstrom and try on some Stuart Weitzman shoes to figure out my size and whether they''re generally comfortable. And then . . . if they pass muster I think I''m going to spring for those gorgeous shoes! (I bought an outrageosly expensive dress (IMO) anyway, so why not, right?)

VEIL--Would a birdcage look good with my gown? What do you think? I LOVE birdcage veils, but I''m not sure if my gown is suited for one.

THANKS!!!!

Here's another one...

In the comment section: Comments

"Oh, this is the best news I’ve heard all week! With two weddings coming up I need shoes badly and Weitzmans are the most comfortable but still hot heels I can find."

Hee hee hee Haven. I think your dress is beautiful and I think the shoes are beautiful. I think they deserve each other. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that you're beautiful too!!!)

ETA: I think it depends on the birdcage veil itself, what it looks like.

Now I''m getting really excited about these shoes, Freke! I''m going to pop on over to Nordstrom after FI and I go to the jeweler and order our wedding bands. (Great day--bling AND shoes, what more could a girl want?)

Here''s my favorite birdcage veil. I think I lifted it from a thread Karasue started a very long time ago, but I could be wrong. I just realized that the feather on the veil matches the bit of whimsy on my dress, too.

What do you think? I''m planning on wearing my hair down, maybe half up, I''m not sure.
