I had my first fitting last night and I could not be more excited about my dress.

Now I really need your help

- I''m torn between two veils

- The shoes I bought turned out to be horribly uncomfortable. I''m not opposed to ordering shoes online and trying out a bunch of pairs. I need them for my next fitting, which isn''t until the end of June so I have time. I''d like them to be at least 3 inches high, and have some kind of support around the heel, no mules. I always wanted to wear ruby slippers to my wedding, but I can''t find any that are not horribly uncomfortable. I''d wear white or a color, I''m really not that picky--suggestions? (Freke?)

- I have no idea what jewelry to wear--and I call myself a PSer! (The shame!) I own a strand of small pearls with a matching bracelet and earrings, but I think the dress might warrant something bigger, no? I''m pretty out there with style, so I''m not at all opposed to wearing something big!

First up: VEIL Number 1--Big, poufy, short-ish.

I just love how the tafetta shines in this picture. And yes, I''m an amazon, I know I look enormously tall next to my wonderful dress consultant. I am.

A better view of VEIL number 1. I don''t know why I look so downtrodden in this picture, I wasn''t!

your dress is so pretty. You can tell its a perfect dress for you b/c in the photo, even w/ a profile shot, you can tell your face it lit up and you look so happy!

who is the designer? what is the style #?

Here''s a shot of VEIL number 2. I believe they''re both called cage veils. This is the one I loved when I first found my dress, which is when this picture was taken.

Thanks mintve! The dress is Melissa Sweet, it's called the Mila. I ADORE IT! I originally fell in love with the MS Dora after seeing Jas13's wedding photos, but then I tried on the Mila and it was love at first zip-up!

Here's another shot of VEIL number 2. This was also taken when I first found the dress, so this is the sample:

Okay, one more shot of VEIL number 2, this one is from yesterday when I was in my actual dress.

Here''s a not-so-great shot of these little sparkly clips my dress consultant put in with the veil. What do you think of these? Too much? Pretty? Meh?

i am usually planted in the sheer long veil camp, but for whatever reason i like the short one also. i think that you really can''t go wrong with either of them. i adore your dress! you look gorgeous

also, i like the clips i think. it''s not a great picture and you could probably do better if you aren''t crazy about them, but i think the look is lovely

I think I like the short one better, but the long one is nice too, so I can''t decide! Yes, I vote short. But long is not a bad choice either!

I''m not crazy about the clips...the feel/vibe of those clips just doesn''t go with your dress somehow. I''m not anti-clip, though...maybe something a little more vintagey and understated? Just my opinion of course!

P.S. Your dress is gorgeous and it looks great on you! Also, I don''t think you look like an amazon! I wish I was super tall...5''10" is my goal height, but I''m only 5''8" at age 26 so I don''t think I''m going to make it.

Are you planning on wearing the veil at the reception? If yes, I vote for the shorter one (they get heavy and hot...I was convinced from trying on my veil a million times it wouldn''t feel heavy and hot, but after 20 mins of dancing, it came off). If you''re taking it off, then I like the longer one -- it''s really pretty and I love how it has similar lines as the skirt of your dress.

And YES! to the sparkly hair thingies! Since your dress doesn''t have any beading, I don''t think it''s too much AT ALL.

You''re a beautiful bride, btw!!! I''m very jealous of your height - tall brides have it made. I loved how dresses looked on me when I was standing on the block, and then when I''d come off, it would be back to reality.

I actually think your dress would look great with pearls. Did you try them on with the dress yet?

Wowee, Your dress is GORGEOUS!! I love the second veil

and the blingy clip looks great in your hair.

Ditto!!

I like the shorter one for some reason!

I think the clip idea is great, but maybe something different? I am SOOOO helpful!

Thanks, ladies!

I''m completely at a loss about which veil. I''m leaning toward the longer one because I think it looks so elegant, but the shorter one is a lot of fun.

I should add that there were three of those blingy clips in my hair and they cost something like $600 together--INSANE! If I go for the veil bling, I will DEFINITELY be making my own or looking elsewhere. They were wire and beads--$600?!?!

So any jewelry or shoe advice? Anybody LOVE their wedding shoes? Do share!

PS your dress is great and you look gorgeous in it!

Freke has been at a party all night, and making cupcakes most of the day. She is mad that she couldn't get on the Haven shoe wagon as soon as it was posted.

So, 3+ inch heels or so, with some kind of support on the heel, and hopefully red, but definitely something comfortable?

Any particular style? Peep toes, pointy toes, round toes, embellished, non embellished? What are your wedding colors? And your shoe size? Heck, while I'm asking questions-what does your favorite pair of heels look like?

Oh yeah, and budget?

Freke is ON THE JOB!!!!

oh haven you look stunning!!!

the veils have different looks...the short one is so fun, and I''m partial to it because it''s VERY similar to mine only longer. the long one looks great with the dress too though, I love the second picture of it from the side, I really like that handkerchief shape (is that what it''s called? no clue) and I think it''s a perfect length. do you think you''ll wear your hair half up like you have in the pictures?

from the little i''ve seen of your wedding, i think the longer one might go a little more with the vibe of your wedding, but i don''t think you can go wrong with either one!! not a huge fan of the clips though...

I knew you''d pull through for me, girl!

Okay--let me see . . .

As far as style is concerned, I''m open. I''d prefer embellished, non-pointy toes, and I love a good peep toe if it''s comfortable.

We don''t really have wedding colors, my bridesmaids are all wearing different dresses in different colors (pink, blue, purple, green, champaign, maybe another shade of blue, I don''t even remember right now. They''re all different.) I almost always only wear black and white myself, with the occasional splash of red or green. I''d be happy with red or white shoes, even blue if they''re cute. Green is my absolute favorite color, I''d do that, too. Can you tell I have no idea what I want?

The shoes I bought are white, peep toe, and they turned out to be extremely uncomfortable.

I wear a size 9.5 or 10, depending on the designer.

Budget--Somewhere under $200, I suppose. I don''t really have a budget, I want comfort and style, so if I have to pay a bit more for it, fine. (Who doesn''t?)

My favorite pair of shoes? Hmmm . . . I don''t wear expensive shoes, really. I LOVE Franco Sarto, cute and comfy. And I just bought the most adorable pair of Bandolinos. I always go for skinny heels, the higher the better (as long as I can walk in them), round yet not wide toe or peep toe, slingbacks or a heel cup and a strap around the ankle. I just did a search for the Bandolinos I just bought and can''t find them.

Thank you Freke, honey!

Thank you to everyone else for your suggestions as well. I''m still really torn on the veil although I do think the longer one fits the overall feel of the wedding a bit better. The shorter one is just so damn cute, though.

will you remove the veil after the ceremony? If so, do the long one!

Ok. I'm on the search again. Dang it for being indecisive on the color. What did the ones you bought look like? Is there a pic around here somewhere so I can see what you like?

ETA: What about metallics?

Haven. I'm showing you the shoes I would sell the rest of my shoes for. I have no idea if they are comfortable, but they are gorgeous (IMHO) and if you don't like them, I might be hurt (don't worry, just a little-and I'll get over it) but they are 4 inches tall, gold, embellished, peep toe, and $615. I know, I know

, but just look before you totally freak out on me.

If I had money, and they had a pair in my size (7.5/8)...

Ok, unless I find something on the site I'm currently on, I'm giving up for tonight and the search shall resume tomorrow.

Maybe embellished sandals? link

I think the second veil without a doubt but as for the blingy hair clip it would depend on what other jewelery your wearing.

I really love these shoes Freke picked red nine west shoes they look beautiful :D

Perhaps Freke should start her own sticky post with a list of gorgeous wedding shoes-- arranged by color and then by heel height ;) -- updated every month. I sure could use the help in a year and a half
9.gif
Ok ok I''m joking- mostly.

Ps. I LOVE the short veil... Don''t know why mostly.. but I think I just like the curves it adds to the shape of you and the dress... just my $.02

I was thinking to myself, "hmm $600 shoes.. they cant be THAT great" ... but those are actually gorgeous!! And I''m a purse/ underoo obsessed gal.

Hi Haven,

I think I like veil #1 better. To me, the shortness and shape of that veil mirrors the shortness and shape of the skirt on your dress. So it just seems to "go" better with the whole ensemble in my opinion.

But if you are really undecided, could you get two veils- one longer one for the ceremony and a fun short one for the reception- and have the best of both worlds? I''m not sure how much the veils in your bridal shop cost, but you can definitely get veils online for reasonable prices (www.obridal.com, www.veilshop.com) so you could go that route if you really can''t make up your mind.

Good luck with the decision!

I really like veil number 1 and I do like the clips she put in your hair, very pretty.
I don''t think they are too much unless you are more low key in general and then I guess they could be but they are very feminine and alluring to me.
Very pretty dress by the way and I too wish I was as tall as you since so many dresses will look so great on a person with so much height you can carry off many dresses much better than a shortie like me
