either proposal would work - the one you planned is absolutely wonderful (yes she will definitely figure it out!), although I love the spontaneous not expecting it cruise one (I always think it is great when someone says ''did you know he was about to propose? to be able to say ''no!!'')

You could propose on the cruise, and still do the day of luxury for her later

Not to say that I don''t do nice things for her, that extravagant plan would just be for this occasion.

Oh Yes! ABSOLUTELY just teasing! Sorry Mob I didn''t mean you needed to pay for the cruise I was joking about coughing up the ring on the cruise! You must do what you are comfortable/happy with. I don''t think you are required to do anything elaborate unless you want to - just do it from the heart when you are ready and it will be perfect!

I just realized that her birthday is on the 15th, mine is on the 8th. 15+8=23
The ring when complete will have 23 stones.

Aw, not cheesy. I think it''s neat. And I also think it''s really sweet that you want this to be so special and mean so much. I''m sure it will.

When I bought on Tues the sales lady/owner told me probably Friday or Monday, not realizing that Monday was a holiday. I called to check on Friday, she said not done and that jeweler was having tricky time figuring out how to set without splitting the prongs (an option they suggested but said would not be necessary).
I don''t want the prongs split so I hope it will be done tomorrow. But I will assume probably Wednesday or Thursday.

We shall see.

I love how you want to make this so special, but I would caution about a proposal involving water/ocean/dolphins - if the ring drops somehow and gets lost...

or if the ring slides right off her hand into the salt water...

Where is the cruise to? Could it be made a part of some announcement during a dinner or a magic show or something?

I suppose this is pretty common, but I got an appraisal from the retailer where I made the purchase and the appraisal value for the completed item was 10k more that what I paid.

Is this common?
Should I get another appraisal before going to get insurance on Monday?
