Hi All,

Is it just me or this HPHT diamond looks very metallic? And almost looks blue? The certificate doesn't mention it has blue nuances.

Thank you!

To my eye it doesn't look like it has blue nuance. Are you able to post the link to the original video?

There is blue in the environment and the white balance on the camera is way off making it inconclusive.

Thanks both! Here is the link to original video:

Even in the original video, I'm not seeing blue nuance. The easiest way to spot it in my experience is in the profile view at the sides of the crown, where the color is more concentrated.

inconclusive.

I'm with Karl on this one...since there's no "standard" for taking pics, the possibilities are all over the place.
In many cases, the blue is subtle and might now show up in such a video

Got it. I guess I would have to see that in person to determine if there’s blue nuance. How about the metallic tone? Does it look very metallic or just the high color (DEF color)?

I would have to agree with this.....for both Blue Nuance, and or grainy or metallic appearance...
If the vendor has the stone in hand, they should be able to answer these....
On the other hand, if the seller is simply looking at the same video, with no stone in hand......they're in the same position as we are....

I'm with the others - it's very hard to tell, but I think you're likely well into the safe zone since it's a D SI1.
If it is a Type IIb, then any blue tint should be oh so subtle...it appears to lean gray, but that may be reflection of the photography lighting and/or environment.
Very nice 40.6/35.5/56 combo!

Thanks everyone. I reached out to the vendor to get some pictures and ASET. A bit worried there might be leakage due to 35.5 CA. I guess at the point it is hard to say if it’s a IIa or IIb because of the lighting?

Hopefully the CA and PA pairing is fine...guessing it has around 77% lowers based on arrow thickness, so that may help.
Yes, hard to tell if it's Type IIb or not.
Hope they are able to get you pictures and ASET!

The vendor said doesn’t think it’s metallic or blue (but he said so before I asked if he can pull the diamond and take pictures so I am not sure if he said so based on the video available online). Here is the ASET and video of this diamond color D (diamond #1)

There is another diamond (diamond#2) that is 0.16 carat and 0.2mm bigger. but lower color (H). I am requesting ASET.

Though diamond one is smaller, it’s $1,000 more expensive than diamond two. Which one do you think is better?

Did you end up making a decision between those two? I would absolutely choose a D over an H. The ASET of diamond 1 looks very good.

Hi Kim - sorry for the delay responses. I took a break from finding the diamond I want. I am debating from either this D or this one. The size is the same. One is D and one is color G-H. Price difference is about $2,000. Do you think it is worth the extra $2,000? Thank you!

The G-H is a bit too shallow in the crown and pavilion IMO and may not be as well suited in a ring. For $2,000 more, I much prefer the D color and the D's proportions.

Thanks Kim. Would you considered the D one ideal or super ideal based on the proportions and ASET?

What's your budget for just the loose diamond?

I was hoping to keep the whole ring under $5,000 because of student loan and mortgage. I like the Simplest design so I would imagine the setting wouldn’t cost me more than $1,000 based on the options on James Allen. I am not too color sensitive so I was hoping to go the lower the better! The D one is def out of my budget but it looks very pretty so I am in dilemma!
