Does anyone know of this ring maker?

Leigh Jay Nacht, Inc. Antique Ring Settings. In NYC. I found them via Pinterest. I am considering an OEC and just searching around to get an idea of different antique style settings. They seem to have some beautiful settings. Just wondering if anyone has used them or knows of their work?

Thank you. :wavey:

My sister bought a lovely little ring from them. I don't think they have a diamond upgrade policy, if that matters to you.

I will admit that I haven't seen the rings in person, but I do not feel that many of their rings are great quality from looking at the pictures. I look at their antique designs to get ideas, but I would not buy most of their rings. I can recall very few PSers buying from them in the overall scheme of things.

FWIW I had considered a Leigh Jay Nacht setting for a diamond I had a couple of years ago. I ended up not keeping the diamond, so did not move forward with the setting, but the customer service in terms of promptness and completeness in info in our email exchange was top-notch.

I do think some of the LJN replica settings offered appear rather fragile in terms of shank width and estimated metal weight, but many antique/vintage settings were made with thin shanks and open filigree styles, and not every ring is intended for daily wear.

I was and am reassured by their Return Policy http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopcontent.asp?type=FAQ#Return_Policy particularly as to to their made-to-order replica settings:

Settings
All of our replica settings are made to order for the customer. Production is 3-4 weeks. If a setting (replica or vintage) is shipped without a center stone, it may be returned under the same policy that is applied to our engagement rings, vintage wedding bands, and finished jewelry. If you are having Leigh Jay Nacht, Inc. set your stone prior to shipping and – upon receipt of the item – elect to return the setting, you will be refunded your full purchase price minus a $150 fee for labor and repairs required to unset the stone and return the stone to you.

My diamond had been a calibrated size, so I was going to have the setting made and sent out to me, and then if the setting meet my expectations in terms of craftsmanship and in terms of being complementary to the stone, I was going to send back the setting with my diamond for mounting at their end. Knowing I could return the (empty) setting for a full refund within 30 days was a great reassurance, and I was impressed the vendor had the confidence in their product to offer returns for their made-for-order replica settings.

Hi Gypsy - yes, I am considering an OEC around 7 - 8 mm, very warm color such as M or above. I want it for a right hand ring, something I can wear daily so it would need to be simple, and comfortable. I have been talking with Erica at Love Affair Diamonds. I will be in the Washington State area at the end of the month where I will meet with her for lunch and she will bring a few stones for me to look at. I don't want to rush into this - still getting my feet wet and learning about OEC's. She has a Q, 2.15 SI-1 stone that continues to catch my eye. However, I'm moving cautiously. I'm in no rush - this will be my BD, X-MAS, anniversary, Valentines, and Mother's Day 2017 gift - all combined. !!! At least this is the selling point to my husband! Seems I have caught the OEC bug!

Thank you for asking - I never mind sharing, especially with the PS community.

I really like a couple of CVB settings. Adore most of EW's setting. And in general strongly prefer custom work from benches I trust for antique reproductions.

What are the settings that caught your eye?

Hi Gypsy - so glad I've engaged your attention!!! While looking on the Love Affair Diamonds website. I like the Artemis solitaire however I would have a yellow or rose gold bezel and the remainder of the ring in platinum, provided I ended up with a warm stone such as a Q or so. I also like the Frankie Halo with a plain platinum shank. Their Stephanie Halo is also very nice however I would have the bezel around the stone in a yellow or rose gold. These are my preliminary thoughts but the deeper my search, I could change my mind. Going to Carmel next weekend and will look in the few antique jewelry stores there to see if there's anything that catches my eye. I'll have the entire day to shop while my husband is golfing! Any suggestions from you? I always welcome your opinion. :wavey:

First, sorry but I am really tired, so if you can link me to the settings I would really appreciate it.

Carmel is good. Lang's is really good as well, have you been there?

I like this setting or something similar. If I went with a very warm diamond (N - Q) I would do a yg or rg bezel and the remainder of the ring to be platinum.

I like this halo, would have the bezel around the stone in yg or rg. Depending on the stone.

I like this however would want a plain platinum shank.

These are the three stones I will see when I meet Erica at the end of the month (provided they are still available) and if they aren't available at that time then I will continue to look. I am not in a rush, just trying to get my feet wet and when the right thing comes along I will know it No room for error!

Thank you Gypsy for your input. Look forward to some feedback from you or anyone else who wishes to chime in. The advise I get from this forum can be of great help - I welcome any and all to chime in!! This OEC shopping is completely new to me.

I love the Artemis.

Of the stones I do not like the first one. I like the second.

I would ask Adam at Old World Diamond to send you some stone recommendations for you to see online. And then he can send you stones on Memo. I've had a few people in the Bay Area do that with Adam, and then I meet up with them and we look at the stones and review them and I help them decide. I am happy to help you with that too.

I am a fan of this setting: https://www.etsy.com/listing/262250529/the-cvb-zoe-art-deco-style-octagonal?ref=shop_home_active_40

And this one is lovely as well: https://www.etsy.com/listing/274525764/the-angela-bezel-solitaire-in-platimum?ref=shop_home_active_6

I am also, completely in love with this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/399188075/the-cvb-id-victorian-style-octagonal?ref=shop_home_active_4

The O looks a bit disordered in its patterning but the N is really lovely and I LOVE the Q - probably doesn't hurt that it's pretty huge. The centre facets are just gorgeous. It would look glorious in the Angela bezel. Also in my absolute favourite CvB setting, the Dahlia. It's not a halo but the way the prongs wrap round look a bit haloesque to me.
Can't wait to see what you choose

I just saw the video Erica made on Instagram of the stones you're considering plus an L. The Q and N look really great and the O too despite not loving how it looks in the still. What a fun choice to have!

Thank you Gypsy and Foxinsox! Great input from the experts! This is a decision I want to get right. Gypsy, I will certainly consider your offer of meeting to go over stones from Adam on memo. I'll contact him to see what he has to say. Foxinsox - I will be meeting with Erica at the end of the month to see these stones in person. I've never had the opportunity to see an OEC in person! Going to Carmel by the Sea on Friday through Saturday and will look in the antique jewelry stores there so I can look at and feel an OEC. This is very exciting. My poor husband :naughty: - he finds himself getting looped into my new jewelry adventures! Oh well - Saturday 8/20 is our 28th engagement anniversary! That's good for a new piece of bling! Thank you ladies - this is exciting and I love having the input. :wavey:

Wow Gypsy! I love all three of those settings - much better than going with a halo. I like how they sit low on the hand and would make a comfortable, affordable and good looking rhr! You have excellent taste. I too was not overly thrilled with the O stone as the facet pattern isn't too flowery which is what I like. Will keep looking however, those settings you posted look like settings I could live with over a long period of time.
