does a RG or YG bezel cast color on the diamond?

I have an ering reset in the works, so of course I'm spending my downtime overthinking. It's entirely too late to change things but I'm curious, regardless. Do you think a rose or yellow toned bezel casts color on the diamond? I grew up admiring my mom's simple RB solitaire with a YG shank and platinum prongs, and was always under the impression that white toned prongs or bezel helped the diamond's bright appearance.

Yet I sent my F colored EC off to be set in a RG bezel without considering that at all

Some of my favorite rings on PS are warm colored stones in YG settings, but I'm curious as to whether they're complimentary only because of their tones, or because the gold also lends color to the stone.

Thoughts?

I do not think there's much that could make an F colored stone look warm. When do we get to see it?

That's a bit reassuring, though I'm pretty color sensitive and an F can bother me at times! Hopefully in a month or so, by the time it's finished and travels across the country :kiss2:

In a higher color and well cut RB diamond I doubt it would have any negative effect.

I have a well-cut GIA J that I wear in an 18k yellow gold bezel pendant, and I actually think the yellow makes the diamond “pop” and look whiter. I can post a pic tomorrow if you think it would make you feel better! But I think it will look great!

Yes, it can. I have a D asscher in a rose gold bezel and though it looks crisp white 95% of the time, sometime it has almost a peachy hue due to the outside of the bezel reflecting back on to the diamond. I don’t mind it though and consider it well worth the trade-off if having the bezel I wanted.

Do be sure that they rhodium-plate the inside of your bezel!

I would say yes, depending on the angle. This can be a good thing for lower colored stones because it makes it that much harder to see the inherent color of the stone. But for high colored stones, yes, RG and probably YG can add some color to the stone depending on the angle.
