I don't.
Why bother?

Yes, always and I do it because if I don't the top of the toothpaste gets dried out.

Yeah. Sometimes I get the kinds with the cap that's attached on which makes it easier. Right now we have three tubes of toothpaste (grown up ones and kids ones) so if the caps were off, it'd be a cluttered mess. Well, it is a cluttered mess anyway but at least toothpaste isn't smeared all over the counter or whatever.

Um. Yes.

We keep our toothpaste and contact solution in a wire-frame hanging basket on the wall. Everything else is in the sealed medicine cabinet, but they just take up too much room.

Sometimes our guests do not close the toilet lid when they flush.

Aerosolizer, anyone? :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: :knockout: :knockout:

Yes.

So? When I brush I use water.
All is fine.

Can't do it. It just bothers me.

Good point. I will say this next time DH bugs me about leaving the cap off.

I keep my toothpaste in a drawer with other stuff. If I didn't cap it, toothpaste would make everything sticky!

Now that I think about it maybe my teeth brushing habits are a little off? I put rinse the brush with water and THEN put the toothpaste on. Everyone does it the other way?

I have the flip top and its easy to flip open and shut. And yes, I always flip it shut after I use it. Perhaps this is a good option for those who can't be bothered to twist the cap back on?

Me too! I have ALWAYS rinsed my brush with some water prior to putting toothpaste on it. No way I can get out of this habit. The brush just feels cleaner and "prepped" for the toothpaste.

No. I'm not great at putting caps back on anything. Once I've used what I want of the contents of the tube / jar / box I've lost interest.
I'm pathologically messy.

DH and I both put the caps back on, but then we each have our own vanity/sink and our own tube of toothpaste so know one would ever complain anyway.

I never do-- and it drives my boyfriend absolutely nuts. But hey- I'm inherently lazy and I've never experienced crusty toothpaste due to leaving the cap open since I use the upright standing gel toothpastes that aren't in a tube.

Always and I squeeze from the bottom never the middle..that drives me insane :x

Ditto..I always rinse the toothbrush with water first

I don't brush my teeth, because then the little beer straw would fall out of my mouth . . .

I do put it back on, mainly because there is no doubt in my mind that my clumsy self would hit it with my arm or lean over and put weight on it and end up with a toothpaste covered counter.

Plus, germs move through the air, I don't want to add any more than necessary to my toothbrush.

And for the record, I rinse my toothbrush, add toothpaste and wet that down to make it more pliable. I hate when I get a wad of toothpaste stuck in one part of my mouth and have to move it all around to get it to the rest of my teeth.

always.

Me too! :appl:

Always put the cap on and rinse brush before the toothpaste goes on.

Yep, I rinse my toothbrush under water before putting toothpaste on.

Same reason I put the cap back on anything else - so it doesn't spill and get all over anything. TPaste is pretty sticky, easy for "stuff to get stuck to the outside of the opening too - and end up in your mouth.

Always, just out of habit. We also have two little kids and one is 2.5. That cap is a major choking hazard so I'm fanatical about keeping things like that where they're supposed to be.

I also rinse the brush before applying toothpaste, AND after too. Anyone else do that? My husband thinks it's a bit weird

This is why I put the cap on. It seems unsanitary to use uncapped toothpaste.

We also keep our toothbrushes in a closed cabinet in toothbrush covers. There are a lot of things flying through the air in a bathroom, I don't want any of them ending up in my mouth.

No, because I'm so bad, I can't be buggered to flip the lid shut.

Me too! And I always put the cap back on.. just seems gross to not put it back on!

I always rinse the brush before adding the toothpaste but not again before brushing - I hate the feeling of a dry brush with paste on my teeth, way to sludgy...
