Do you drink green tea?

I would like to drink it more frequently. I am a big coffee lover, but enjoy tea as well. I like the Tazo Zen green tea at Starbucks (I think it's in a mesh type of bag) as opposed to at home (where I find it to be weaker, I guess, in the standard paper tea bag.) Any favorite green teas out there? Maybe I should try loose tea, which I am not really interested in doing, actually. Lol!

I like the Jasmine Green Tea from Trader Joe's.

For some reason even though I like the smell and taste of green tea I find it irritates my stomach :(. My favorite herbal tea is plain old peppermint. But I'm open to trying new teas too. And I do enjoy coffee and black tea.

Yes, I find that the loose leaves taste grassier whilst the bags taste much weaker without that "green" taste. I dislike flavoured teas because it doesn't taste like tea anymore to me.

I don't like the taste of green tea either. I LOVE black tea though. I enjoy peach green tea, but not plain green tea.

I dislike the taste of tea and can only drink herbal tea. My favorite is Tazo Passion herbal. But I love the taste of coffee and get my morning caffeine that way. I wish I liked the taste of tea because of all the health benefits but I just don't like it.

Another vote for Jasmine Green Tea from Trader's.

I used to love Starbucks green tea, but then I started drinking coffee instead. I think that happened one winter in Chicago.

I drink Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea at night now, and I add Tupelo Honey and fresh lemon juice. So good, so relaxing.

AutumnNovember is a huge fan of tea, hopefully she will chime in with suggestions!

I was big into green tea for a few years. Sencha, Gen Maicha (which hubbie drinks daily - it has roasted rice added that adds a nice flavor) and Hoji Cha (roasted green tea that is a light brown color) and Matcha. I found like innerkitten that it was irritating my stomach (I have acid reflux and gastritis). Had to give it up except for occasionally...strangely a couple of cups of coffee is less irritating, which goes against what everyone says.

If you are turned off by the grassy flavor, try Hoji Cha. Very mild and more toasty/carmely in flavor. Nice in winter. :))

This is a very nice green tea: Choice Organic Whole Leaf Organics Jasmine Green Tea Pyramids. It's a whole leaf tea, so it's very mild. Anything less than whole leaf typically irritates my stomach unless I add milk and, apparently, the benefits of green tea are negated if milk is added. I buy it on Amazon as it isn't available locally.

I'm from the land of coffee drinkers (Finland) and I regularly try to drink green tea but so far no luck - I just don't like the taste. I usually drink black tea after 5-6pm because I find having trouble to sleep if I drink coffee after that. I guess I'm getting old since that wasn't a problem when I was a few years younger.

Unfortunately for my wallet at $17 a box, I am hopelessly addicted to Aveda's licorice root tea. I drink it by the gallon.

I love Stash teas, both their green teas and their flavoured teas, as they aren't overpowering.

Loose green tea is how we roll. :-)

Normally, I won't buy any food type products made in China, but when we were on our honeymoon tour in China, we went to a tea plantation and went for the A++ dragon well tea - 5 little cannisters around $200.

Whenever mom goes to Taiwan, she comes back with hundreds of dollars worth of green and oolong tea - lolol... We're a little cuckoo like that.

Certain green teas which are more roasted can be "sour" on the stomach.

My local guide in China said that tea bag tea was like the throw away tea - lololol... He was such a tea purist it was crazy!

In the US, we go to Teavana. I usually do a blend of jasmine, oolong, white, and green. It gets mad expensive - 2 bags are liks $100+ BUT we only use one tsp at a time to make the equivalent of 4 tall glasses. I then let the glasses cool and refrigerate because I like drinking my water with a "splash" of tea. hahaha... and the cats sneak some out of my mug sitting on the nightstand at night, too... naughty!

Monarch, you have a fantastic memory!

Yep - huge tea lover over here! I actually used to drink a lot more and now that I'm working in an office, I started drinking coffee. Im cutting it out and going back to my beloved tea though.

I love green tea and was following this thread because I figured I'd cut out the coffee and replace it with the green tea.

Mom is a huge green tea drinker so she likes to try all different brands.

My mom buys a particular brand that has a hint of a floral taste and I love it. Will be going home this weekend and I will find out the brand. If she is out of that, we drink Chinese green tea. I will need to report back!

One of my son's friends told me that the Jasmine in green tea is what is responsible for the slight bitter taste. I love green tea but like the milder flavoured ones. Does anyone know if this is true? I've got a green tea at the moment with some mango flavour in it, it's delish!

In my experience, you have to take a little care brewing jasmine tea (green, white, black, whatever). If you steep it a little too long, it goes bitter.

To add to Lady D's advice, do not wait until the water boils. I prefer to remove the pot from the heat right before the water boils. Tea purists recommend a specific water temperature but I'm not that particular. Leaving tea to sit out too long also changes the aroma, appearance and taste.
