Do you call it an upgrade or an anniversary diamond?

I''m getting a new diamond ring for my 15th anniversary. I will wear it on my left ring finger with my wedding band. I am keeping my ering and possibly making it into a pendant.

What would you call it? Do you think your guy/guys prefer one term or the other?

I am also keeping my original, so it is not an upgrade, technically. I am calling mine my anniversary rings.

I''m keeping my old one, but will never do anything with it. I call my new one an upgrade.

I call mine an anniversary stone cos dh hates the concept of ''upgrading''. Makes him feel like I don''t cherish the original e-ring, which I do and will still wear at times. I really don''t care what it''s called as long as I get it!

cheers, a

Yes I did not want to make my DH feel bad. I''m so very pleased that I''m getting a new ring tho. How much longer do you need to wait for yours and what are you getting?

DiamondSeeker what will you do with your old ering? Did you change shapes as well as size? I don't think you did. Have you posted a photo collage of the old ring and the new?

Ellen I thought that you've had your upgrade for a while now. How long has it been?

It''s been about 6 months, but after having the other one 24 years, it still seems new.

StoneHunter,

My stone should arrive next week!!! Yay! It's a 2ct I SI2. I'm really undecided about the setting but my latest idea is a 3-stone with trillions, like headilight's (but a baby version!)

Edited to ask: when is your arriving and what is it? sorry if I've missed all the info somewhere.

I got a new diamond in September. I kept my original and had it set into a beautiful halo for my right hand. I have referred to my new stone as an upgrade, but only here at ps. In real life, I have referred to it as my birthday present, as most wouldn''t understand the "upgrade" terminology anyway. I guess technically, it isn''t an upgrade though. I hadn''t really thought about it until now! LOL

I haven''t decided what to do with it. Right now it is just the same. I can wear the old set if I am in a situation calling for less bling! I think on my Show Me the Ring thread, there is one not-great picture of both sets on my ring finger to show the size difference. It is also a round stone and is 1 ct. New one is 1.63 but a much better cut.

I am out of town this weekend visiting my family, and they LOVE my new rings! My sister said she thinks it is beautiful but I could have gone a little bigger! Haha! Who knows..I might end up like Angeline! I''ve only had this one a week (since having it set)...so maybe it''ll shrink!!!

I refer to mine as my anniversary rings...I kept my original and have it set for a RHR.
