Do wireframe diagrams on GIA reports match the diamond? Asscher question

Hi! I’m confused because I count more facets on this asscher than the diagram seems to show. The diagram shows a 4-step pavilion, but I’m counting more! How many facets does this Asscher have? Should the certificate depict that? IMG_5817.jpeg

The wireframe diagram may not be identical to the diamond in every case. The measurements on the report should be checked carefully, but the facet pattern may vary.

Thank you! In your opinion how many facets does this particular stone have? I’m happy to provide more pictures if that is helpful.

I would need a side view pic because I can't tell in a top view pic.

Perhaps only @Karl_K has the expert design experience here to count the rows from this top view pic.
If anyone can, Karl can.

But Karl, can you determine with certainty the number of rows of facets on both the pavilion and the crown from this top view pic?

It would be a bothersome challenge, not to mention expense, for GIA to accurately draw a custom diagram of every facet design variation of each of these 18 diamond shape families:
... and I bet there are far more than 18.

Other than occasionally with a princess cut almost never with fancies.
mrb/oec are very easy to tell from the extra facet rounds but telling extra facet rounds from one another can be a problem from a face up view.

Ah its an asscher the answer to the question is virtual facets.
In an asscher and other step cuts the physical facets can interact in a way that creates the appearance of many steps.
