Do I need H&A for sparkling pendant?

I am looking for a diamond to make a solitaire pendant with claw prongs. My budget is $10k and I would like to get the biggest size for this money. I've started my search looking for H&A cut stones that demand premium to the price. Do I need to aim for H&A cut diamond to get a sparkling bright stone, or I better look for excellent/ideal cut?

Could you help me to find a great stone in H/I color range and VS2 clarity or eye clean for my pendant? I am planning to get the second one in a future to upgrade my current 1.4 ct G/VS2 earrings.

For me, I don't need precise H&A pattern but a well cut diamond for a pendant. Many well cut RBs will exhibit a H&A pattern but may not pass a true H&A test (broken heart or arrow or both).

Just look for an ideal cut.

Personally, you don't need a perfect stone for a pendant. My old 1.5ct e-ring was a minor disappointment when it was housed on my finger. As a pendant, I hardly see any of the flaws and only really see a well-adorned and sparkly neck ;)

I tend to agree with this... If it were me, I would get something like this (it will be plenty white and totally clean) ...not to mention 7.6mm!

I purchased a lovely stone for a pendant for my daughter's 21st birthday. I was an M I1!!! I took photos of hers and mine (H color) and with the shadow of one's head and the fact that no one gets very close to your neck the stones looked the same. So you can go down in color and clarity and not suffer too badly.

Yes! My younger sister has a pendant that's an EGL H (more like a true K/L), and it looks awesome! :appl:

What if I plan to use this diamond for earrings in the future? World it still look good? I have H&A G/VS studs now That I love, but would like to upgrade them in a future.

I think an I color MRB will still look very white as an earring...

sorry to bring up an old topic but doesn anyone need the H+A pattern ? Does it really effect the beauty to the naked eye ? Everyone in the diamond trade I have talked to says no

Thanks! Will have some fun reading this weekend!

Apologies sparkle - that link was for treasurehunter! Ditto PPs re. your original question - no, I don't think you need H&A for a sparkling pendant ::) But if you want to delve into the debate of what visual impact H&A may have there are a ton of old threads to dig through!

Here are some good ones:
