I have a new engagement/wedding ring set, to celebrate my 20th wedding Anniv. It's a 2.00 ct. I, SI1, crisscut cushion set in a precsion set halo ring with matching diamond band.

I love it, but sometimes in bright sunny days the diamond seems to lose it's deminsion or depth and just looks sort of glassy. But then in other lighting it is amazing with all the fire, depth, almost blindingly brillant.

Is this normal? Do most diamonds perform different or better given different lighting conditions?

Sorry topic is suppose to read "different"

Most definitely! That''s one of the interesting things about diamonds - and many, many PSers have tips on which lighting to install in your office cubicle for best sparkle

.

Mine performs best in indirect sunlight, at an angle through a window.

ya, it does which is why we encourage people to view the stone under as many lighting conditions as they can and not just under jewelry store lighting when shopping in person to see which ones they prefer.

I agree that the changes in a diamond''s personality due to different lighting is fascinating. If your stone is fluorescent, the changes will be even greater!

BTW, congrats!!! Sounds like you got a great stone!
I love the crisscuts!

I tried on a crisscut ring last week when I was supposed to be Christmas shopping. I''d never seen one in real life before.

It was STUNNING!

Congrats on your new ring (and I''d love to see photos of it) and of course on your 20th anniversary.

Yep, I have an ideal RB and it changes all the time. I love it though, it has many faces. I''d love to see your crisscut if you have pics!

Thanks for all your replys. I just wanted to say that I did post a picture of my ring in the "show me the ring" forum. The thread is titled "My 20th Anniv. upgrade".
Thanks for letting me share.

I absolutely love Crisscut rings. It would be my dream wish to get either the asscher or cushion for myself some day. I need to go find the pictures you posted on the other forum!
