Did I get a relatively good deal?

Hello. This is my first post here on pricescope :)

I recently came back from a local jeweler, after having visited several other jewelers shopping my budget around, and ended up with a GIA 2.01ct cushion modified brilliant, J-colored SI2 stone, set on a halo split shank ring, with diamonds set all around the setting. It has excellent polish, faint fluorescence, and the cut is very good. The total carat weight of the setting will be approximately 2.00ct or less - the ring is 5.5 in size and the jeweler said the stones would cover the ring all around. I was looking at a smaller carat round stone, but I didn't like the way the round looked on the halo setting, as it had some spacing in the corners. The measurements are 7.37 x 6.72 x 4.43. In any case, I left a deposit on the ring and the total will run me $7950. Does that sound like a relatively good deal? I tried shopping around as much as I could, and this seemed like the best purchase.

The stone itself is beautiful, and even though it is an SI2, it looks as good as the SI1 1.8ct stone that I was looking at for a similar price when I looked at them both through the loupe. Thanks so much for looking at my post!

I meant to add that the depth is 65.9% and the table is 62%, with "slightly thick" written at top, and "extremely thick (faceted)" written at the bottom.

The cutter is hiding some fats (extra weight) on the girdle. that is the reason why the stone ended up being a 2.01 ct.

Thank you for your reply, dancingfire. I did notice that when compared to the 1.8 stone, the 2.01 face-up was slightly larger, but it was almost unnoticeable. I simply thought that at those carat sizes, the face size difference wouldn't be too apparent between stones at 1.8 - 2.0, but it makes sense that a thick girdle would make the size difference even less apparent. Thanks!

No body can tell you that you got a good deal on a stone we haven't seen or even have pictures of .

We can give you the generic "If you love it then thats the only thing that matters." Probably not what you are looking for.
