diamonds and the economy...

hello - just wondering. my bf had asked and i wasn''t sure. does the current state of economy effect retail diamond prices? he and i were curious if this is a good time to buy one...are they at all cheaper right now?

What ive noticed is that the diamond market is showing a price increase...with the prices of precious metals going crazy anything of value like gemstones follow suit...Do your research and know the market and what the size and quality of diamond you want went for a year ago ,six months ago, versus what you are being quoted on the stone you have in your hand today.People are being conservative with their jewelry purchases right now and so even though prices are up...jewelers are more willing to deal on a stone to make a sale.Dont be suprised though if some jewelers havent re-stocked their loose diamond inventory after Christmas because sales are sluggish because of the ecomomy and they are nervous about tying money up in inventory right now.
