Diamond Tennis Bracelet...setting question- 3 or 4 prong?

Hello friends!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a tennis bracelet...eeek, I'm so excited! I've been wanting one for a long time. The 3-prong setting is really speaking to me. I love how you see so much of the diamonds and not the metal...like they are floating. The diamonds will each be about .25 ---- so approximately 9 ctw. Is there anything I should know about 3-prongs? I want to wear this almost every day so I need it to be durable. Is the 4-prong setting better for that? It will be set in platinum. I've reached out to several vendors but right now am leaning toward WF.

Oh, yay! So glad you are leaning toward Whiteflash! Theirs are so nice! m2b recently got hers from WF and it is 3 prong with 20 point stones in platinum!

If I were making one, I'd do 4 prongs just because it is more classic and I like it better, but many here love three prongs.

Thank you so much for sharing that link! I'm so excited! It's gorgeous. I just want to make sure of the size/setting before I have it made.

I understand that. It is a big decision especially if you go custom. If you read her thread, M2b ordered their standard (returnable) 6 ct bracelet to help her decide the setting style and the size diamonds. She wanted larger diamonds and the 3 prong setting in platinum. They can also order other 4 prong settings than they have on the site if you don't see what you want. I think her 20 point stones are fabulous so I can't even imagine 25 pointers!

I have a 4 prong tennis bracelet with 25 pointers - I like the 4 prong style as I feel it's more classic. With the 25 pointers you see more of the stone rather than the metal. Just my opinion. 3 or 4 prongs - a nice tennis bracelet is a great piece to have.

Are you having it made in gold or platinum? Platinum claws are a bit stronger.
Both 3 & 4 claw designs have pros/cons - - with a bracelet of this size, you may want to consider stone security. While very rare (and I'm just thinking worst case scenario), if one of the claws were to come loose on a 3 claw version, the stone could be at more risk of falling out - whereas in a 4 claw design, you could lose a claw and the stone would still be fairly secure.
Regardless of your decision you are going to have a great piece - can't wait to see the pics :appl:

4 prong for security - or how about small semi bezel 2 prong - love that look

Hi there! I thought I would put my 2cts in since DS referenced my WF 3 prong bracelet earlier in this thread.

I have had my WF bracelet for quite some time now and have not had any problems wearing it daily whatsoever. I went with the 3 prong style b/c I wanted less metal and more diamond to be seen. I feel like the diamonds are held very securely in the platinum and I like the look of seeing each individual diamond on my wrist. Here's an example of one WF did with 25pts (so blingy! :sun: ) which is the size you are looking for:
