Hello All,

My BIL wants to purchase a pair of diamond studs for my sister. Please help me in finding the best pair on his budget. I looked, but it starts to get really confusing!
Not sure what to expect for the size/budget.
TIA!

Budget 3k
1.5 ctw

Check out Whiteflash, James Allen, and Blue Nile!

Yes, thank you! I did that, but unsure of what to look for exactly. What stats are good for studs? I heard with different pieces (earrings, pendant, rings), you can have different cut, color, clarity, etc. and still have jewelry sparkle. I guess I'm wondering what is the most important quality for studs??

What color is the diamond in her ring? Is she color sensitive? To save money, or stay on budget most people feel comfortable going down to I color wise and SI1 in clarity for earrings. Cut quality is the most important C as it influences the appearance of size and color. In other words, a poorly cut diamond will appear smaller and show tint more.

I’ll try to look for some examples on Whiteflash.

Here are two candidates. IMHO they are close enough to be a pair. Best cut quality, SI1 but since they are ACA’s they should be eye clean. I color.

They are slightly over budget and not the 1.5 tcw she wants however Whiteflash has a great upgrade policy so over the years he could have the size, color or clarity upgraded.

Great. Thank you so much for the info! I'll have him look over the ones you suggested. I think she would prefer sparkle and quality over size, anyway.

If she wears a diamond ring, it would be prudent to color match to that. If she wears a non diamond ring, it will make things easier. A well cut I color should work in most cases where there's no color sensitivity. SI for earrings is not bad because not many will be up in your grill like they are with a ring. Also, viewing angles are different.

If he wants something a bit smaller to stay on budget come back and we can find some just a bit less expensive. They shouldn’t cost much to have mounted so most of the cost is in the stones.

I think I color is a good choice for the starter pair. They will be bright and sparkly at a half carat each. Later she can upgrade to a larger size and color if she wants.

In my opinion, matching e-ring stone colour to studs shouldn’t be the deciding factor for the studs. My ring stone is a J, my studs are H’s. Was a great price for them so I grabbed em. Buy the best bang for your buck you can.
