They're about to start crafting my settings and I need to decide if I want the little donut that can sit at the base of the setting, prior to the stem. Here's an example of what I mean:
Martini setting (V-shaped) w/ donut:
Bezel setting (U-shaped), without donut:
I'm guessing the donut is to provide a larger base to hold against the ear vs. just the stem/back (kind of like a way to sandwich the flesh between two flat pieces)? I believe it will also make the earrings protrude a small bit off of the ear; how much I don't know, and don't know if it would be a problem as I like my settings pretty flush. I've asked my BG rep about it and she said that customers love the bezel setting as is and they've never had complaints, but can add the donut if I'd like it. My concerns are that I want to prevent drooping and stretching my piercing.
Thoughts on this? What has your experience/preference been?
