Diamond stud earrings on eBay?

it'll probably cost about $1150 for a well cut .50ct J SI2 stone.

Actually one of the ladies got hers appraised and the specs were just like the listing said for hers and she's been buying and selling diamond jewelry

Still means little. I dont find appraisers to be all that good as a rule, and if my experiences on ebay are any indication, you don't need to know much to buy and sell jewelery either 8) You asked us why people were happy when what you got was so off from what you expected. I think our answer is spot on. Not sure why you are arguing the point? Are you thinking maybe you got unlucky and in fact the daimonds they usually offer are great? I think that is far less likely than the alternative we have suggested.

You can get nice, bargain earrings on ebay, as makemepretty has told you over and over. You need to find an INDIVIDUAL seller, with REAL pictures and a good return policy. Or be patient and check the preloved section of Pricescope. I picked up a non-ideal cut pair of earrings on here (from a very lovely lady!) that are blazing white, totally eye clean, and just gorgeous - for $500. They were advertised as .75 ctw, but the stones are a full 5 mm, which means they face up as half a carat each. In my opinion good deals like this don't come along every day, so be patient and look around. You'll get lucky if you put the time and effort into the hunt. Don't settle for rubbish.

Some times I feel like this is kinda bias. I bought some diamond earrings ( not studs though) and precious gemstones from both individuals and wholesalers and I've had great experiences with both but some mishaps as well. I always got the items appraised for my home insurance so I don't know why some people said it doesnt mean much to get it appraised even though the appraisal shows how much the replacement value is? One of the wholesalers sent me diamonds that I didnt really like so I asked for an exchange. the second pair was really beautiful. So i dont think you should lose hope on wholesalers though yeah, you will get a better deal with individuals. I wanna know what you decided to do...

I have found my appraisals have been, as a rule, wildly inflated for value, and even wrong in the grading (mistaking dirt for an inclusion). That was why I made my comment. I have tried about 5 different appraisers locally in my town and none has been very impressive.

Yes that is true. The price on the appraisal is greatly inflated. But it didn't fail me when I lost my sapphire necklace on an overseas trip

Sorry to bring this back to the top but I returned the earrings. Shipping took a while and the seller just got it today. Waiting for a refund on my card. I found a different vendor with an A- with the BBB and my cousin has bought from them and highly recommends them so I will try to get some earrings from them. A little more pricey but I decided to go down in size. Cut is excellent, SI2 eye clean, and G in color. Thanks guys

Hope you love them!

Oh that is great. Coincidently, I'm looking at a pendant with those same specs!
