Hi guys,

Friends are going to NY over the xmas break and one of the things that she mentioned that she wanted to do was bling shopping.
i suspect that she will only have one day to do this amongst other things on her schedule.

So, please forward me your recommendations.

Take LIRR to Massapequa Park and visit GOG!

Thanx for the recommendation...

LIRR means.......

I D JEWELRY! In the diamond district, 47th street! They have spectacular deals, even for us picky PSer's. :appl: Their address is on their website, they're right off 5th Avenue.

Remember, though, the diamond district is closed on the weekends. :(sad

LIRR means Long Island Rail Road

Diamond District is not open on weekends btw. And neither are some of the majors.

IDJ is definitely fun. Mom and I spent a day there. We ate burgers for lunch at five guys, popped into Rockefeller center to use the restroom.

Not to say that GOG isn't worth a visit, but it's kind of a long trip just to see diamonds. It's an hour on the LIRR each way from Penn Station.

When does their Xmas break begin? If they are university students and break begins before Xmas, the district is open on Sundays between now and Xmas, so it may be an option.

You mention they probably only have a day to look. If that's the case, I'd probably tell them to go to 47th street to see the most variety. Going outside Manhattan would probably eat up half a day and they wouldn't likely see as much.
