Diamond Selection Dilemma

Hello.I am new to the forum and would like you alls advice regarding two diamonds I am considering.

#1) $5900 out the door. including white gold band, but I think maybe I can get the person t go for $6000 with a platinum band (solitaire).10-day money back…Here are the specs:

I have seen this one personally and it is cleaner than all of the other SI1s I have seen.I also have seen it through a H&A viewer and looked excellent… as far as I could tell anyways.All of the hearts and arrows were very pronounced.I compared this diamond with other similar diamonds and this one was the sharpest through the H&A viewer.

#2) $5525 online so havent personally seen it (diamond only)… 30 day money back.

Both of the diamonds’ inclusions are very similar in placement as well.

So, do these appear to be about the right price?Which one, on paper at least looks like the better stone? Id guess #2 looks a little better on paper, but is it worth the uncertainty?

Welcome.

These both look like very good diamonds, you can check you pricing with the search tool at the top of the page. If this diamonds are with a jeweller, generally the prices will be a bit higher than for online diamonds. If you have seen the first one and love it, then it is definitely worth considering, especially with an SI grade, where you need to check carefully for '' eyecleanliness.'' It would be useful to know the exact pavillion angle on the second diamond. Also because a diamond displays a H&A pattern, doesn''t mean it is a true heart and arrows diamond, it depends on what you want.

pretty sure that diamond #2''s pavilion angle is 40.8. Dont "love #1" but its probably the best ive seen so far in person... not sure thats saying a lot... Ive been shown some garbage.

If you don''t love it, don''t buy it, especially with only a 10-day return policy. There are lots of diamonds out there in the general price range you are talking about. As far as whether the stone you haven''t seen will be clean, I think that color, more so than placement, may determine that. If one has a clear inclusion and the other has a dark inclusion, and both are in the same spot, you''re more likely to see the dark inclusion.

How come? Honestly, I see nothing of the info here that would make me go "ew". It looks very promising. Plus, you have seen it. H&A''s aside, did it seem bright? did it sparkle well? shoot off fire?

good questions, with the answers we may be able to determine what personality you like in a diamond and point you in the right direction.

Yea, it looked nice, sparkled and had fire…but it has been a little while since I last saw it… The two diamonds the person had that were in line with what I was looking for looked very similar. The differences between the two were very subtle, basically undistinguishable for me to tell the difference with out a loop. With the loop, again the 1.12 looked really good; I had a good deal of trouble finding the inclusion.

I guess one thing I wish is that the symmetry on the 1.12 was also Ex. I bet I couldn’t even tell the difference if it did, but it’s more of a mental thing. I want to make sure I’m making the best decision and not paying more than I have to. Should it not having EX sym really be much of a consideration? At this point, if I can’t get the person with the 1.12 to come down to a price comparable to the 1.11 mentioned above, Id be inclined to go with the one that seems better at least on paper. With a 30 day return policy, I could return it, if it isn’t what I had hoped… Does anyone agree or disagree that the 1.11 looks a little better on paper than the 1.12?
