ss1934,

I am in the camp that would recommend that you walk away from this regardless how geat a bargain the total package might be. With all that has gone on between you and the jeweler (be it real or perceived), if you do buy it, the diamond will always remind you of this negative experience. You will never take pleasure of or appreciate the ring the way you should with such a purchase. And every time that you see the ring on your wife's finger, you'll get a feeling of disgust.

You may not get another bargain like this on a diamond but none the less you'll find another stone that will still be a bargain and one that you'll be happy with.

On the other hand, if you do decide to buy the ring, just keep telling yourself what a great bargain it is despite the jerk jeweler. Repeat it enough and you'll start believing that line so over time you'll disassociate this negative experience with the ring.

If you are still confounded about buying this ring after reading all these posts, just take out a quarter and flip it -- Heads - you buy; Tails - you walk.

F&I....I'm with you on this one......done!

Everyone seems to KNOW this setting is overpriced without having seen it, learned one damn technical detail about it, etc. No one even knows how many freakin' baguettes there are....everyone ASSUMES, and then state that the ring is overpriced. Insane.

I'm done on this one.

(Oh, and F&I......negate what I said about the horse. Evidently, it wasn't bloodied because the message most assuredly did not get through to most. Sad and astonishing, but true.)

I'm back for one more.

Dancing girl - I'm sorry that you used my post as a platform for how overpriced & overrated the Vatche 3 stone setting is. Having own one now & being very pleased with the quality BTW, I priced out several options - including two separate custom jobs. I do know how much a quality setting of this type *can* cost. My posting of how much the Vatche setting cost was simply a benchmark.

Unfortunately, without specifics, there is no way I can compare this settings with my findings on price.

After all this .......

Its great to be right.....

Gee, and all along I thought the question that was asked was Diamond price low, Setting price high?

Silly me.

Its okay F&I, maybe you just needed some coffee to jump start that "sellers" mentality of yours to the fact that while price is important; in the end its Overall Buyer satisfaction thats brings customers into your store....

but only if that satisfaction comes with the lowest price and free shipping right?
