I just received my diamond ring shipped from Blue Nile.
I noticed the color seems a little "blue" in some lighting.

The center diamond seems like a slightly different color compared to the side stones though.
Side stones are avg color I, 1/3 carat, 42 stones, in a 14k white gold setting.

The pictures were taken with lights directly on it...is this normal?

The melee are also reflecting blue at the same angles - there's something blue in the room (walls? Shirt? Camera body?)

Did they sent you a blue diamond by mistake?.. :cheeky:

Look at it in other lighting environment and see if it's still blue. There might be a light contrast between the center and melee. Melee are usually G/H. Since center is I, technically center should be slightly warmer than melee. In general, melee should appear whiter than center from my observation even if they are all the same color.

What lighting environments make it look blue? Any chance it's under fluorescent lighting or semi-fluorescent lighting??

I know it says NO fluorescence on your report, but recently I purchased a GIA 3X stone that said it had NO fluorescence. I took it to an appraiser and when she put it under her UV lamp…..it was very, very, very fluorescent. So that was an oversight on GIA's part. I'm guessing it happens from time to time.

Diamonds reflect colors in the environment. Unless you were shining UV light on it, it can't be fluorescence (and it doesn't look like fluorescence). When you go outside on a clear day, it may reflect the blue of the sky.

I do agree with what Diamondseeker said. It looks blue to me in your photos, but it doesn't look fluorescent. And of course it would only fluoresce under UV lighting.

That being said, hopefully it doesn't bother you or her. If it does, then you could always swap it out for another diamond.

I think its the blue accent wall near the ceiling. Didnt even cross my mind when snapping the pics, thanks for the help! I will take better pics when the wifey is away lol.

The melee and center still dont "match". Melee appears slightly whiter, and the center is a tad darker (not yellow).

I havent been able to view a lot of halos in person.
If i went with a h+ center would the melee and center stone look more uniform?

Thanks!

Yes, DS and I were both confident the blue was environmental.

Melee and larger stones will always return light differently and that's the "bright white dot" effect you're seeing - it's not due to any actual difference in body colour.
The only way to minimize the "apparent colour difference" - which is caused by adjacent stones showcasing different flavours of light return - is to use single cut melee (fewer, bigger facets).
