Hi all,

Looking for some advice as to which diamond to purchase for an engagement ring. I'm looking to to set the diamond in a simple solitaire ring with 4 prongs. I've narrowed my search down to 2 diamonds. Being novice, I would love help understanding if the diamonds I have selected are good and if I should be concerned with either of the diamonds below.

OPTION 1
Carat: 1.6ct
Color Grade: H
Clarity: VS2
Cut: Excellent
Florescence: Faint

Concerns: Feather near the crown and Indented Naturals near the Girdle

OPTION 2
Carat: 1.71ct
Color Grade: I
Clarity: VS1
Cut: Excellent
Florescence: Medium Blue

Appreciate the input.

If you tell us your budget for the diamond and what you are looking for in the 4 Cs, we may be able to suggest some other options.

#1 is worth pursuing. Can you get photo, ASET and or IS (ideal
scope) image? This is a 60/60 stone. So, it will favor white light over fire.

#2 was graded in 1982. I would assume it was taken out of a setting and who knows what may have happened to the stone during it wear. Its also has uncomplimentary angles in the cut. No for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

My budget is up to 15K. However I would like to spend a little less. I'm looking for a diamond that is eye clean and reflects light well. I'm planning to set the diamond in platinum solitaire so I would like the color to not be too yellow.

As for #2 where do I find the 1982 grading report. As I mentioned, Im rather novice. Is the GIA report of Dec 2nd, 2013 a reevaluated date?

I just checked again and see 2013. I swear I saw 1982!! I blame some-timers ... Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for providing options. Very helpful.

The stones above are priced between 11.5k and 13k. Is there anything within either GIA reports that I should be concerned with?

On the 1.6ct. Is the feather near the crown and the Indented Natural on the girdle something to be concerned with?

Did you see this in pre-loved? It's an E, VS2, brian gavin stone. It comes with an Erika Winters bezel. The stone itself is at least $22K on BGD's website, not including a pricey Erika Winter setting. THIS IS A STEAL!!!

Since he recut it, I think it comes with the trade in policy too. Check with @JDDN who is the seller. I have seen this ring IRL and it is stunning.
