The round is my current ring that I've had for a CPL yrs and been super rough on with no issue

The oval is my new project which I will probably wear alot at first then wear 50/50 with my round

I asked for the prongs to be like the round ring above as well as the claws to be a little thinner

Is this ok ?

Some are saying the head might break off but I don't think it's really any different from 2.5 ct to 3Screenshot_20200912-070150.png1599957686234.jpg

I can say in the 10 plus years I've been on PS, I dont recall anyone ever coming oh here and saying the head to their ring broke off.

(I'm sure if they have we'll hear about it now!)

Ok good so you think il be ok ? I think I will to considering I'm only going up half a carat than what I'm wearing now and I've been super rough on it

Yes, I think it will be ok. JA has a couple rings in that style. I dont think they would offer them if they were problematic.

It happens!!!

Not when cast as a single piece (not without crazy trauma at least), but if the jeweller only uses the laser to solder and not proper soldering, heads come off far too often!

I have remarked more than once that I wish that I just got the job in the first place, and saved the person $3000-$10000! (when they though they were saving $500 or $1000 the first time around! )

Anyway, you may want to put shoulders on the ring to give the head a little extra protection.

I was going to put shoulders on but would have had to redo the CAD

SO whatever

That's also what the co. Said it's one piece so should be fine

Plus it's not that il be wearing it every day and I'm used to a large high stone so I should be ok

Thanks so much really appreciate putting my mind at ease !!!

I'm here, I'm here!

The head to my mom's ring came off. She found it, thank goodness. It was a four-prong basket style head that the jeweler (Long's in MA) replaced her original setting head with after the diamond fell out of that (they had told her it was fine to set a 1ct into it even though it was made for a 1.25ct). It was a Verragio setting.

She gave up on it and went with a one-piece six-prong Tiffany-style setting and finally stopped having problems.
